The infection rate for the western world doesn't rise above 0.1% - even in Nigeria, it's barely above 3%.

There are varying levels of risk. If I am having exclusive sex with a heterosexual female, then I cannot reasonably expect to contract HIV, or any STD.

In any case, the statistics are misleading. If the infection rate for my area was 1%, it would not mean that everybody had a 1% chance of having HIV. Certain demographics that were much more at risk (needle drug users, those who are very sexually promiscuous, etc.) would throw off the numbers for my demographic.

Yes, but the idea is that they take a chance - as in, they are aware of the risks involved, and they decide to take that chance anyway. It is not up to me or you to step in and try to protect them.

I give up on arguing, it's becoming a bore when it's not that much of a hot topic. Mainly one 1-2 good future outcomes. And with the disagree of many, I don't see me changing anyone's opinion. But w.e.

    Shredd(+ others), you win =/.

Well, you would agree then that this issue extends beyond the rights of privacy? That one's rights end where another's begins? When I drive my car, must I be worried that some reckless driver kills me? Well I should, but should the reckless driver have repercussions?

What if the test was simple and free?

i believe that your partner should be informed because if there not you could cause your partner in death which is completely unfair.

I definetly believe that you should tell your partner because if you do not that is just morally wrong. :/

I don't care for the morality, as it can change from person to person and have no real substance.

The question is, should it be LEGALLY wrong?

Looking at it from a sane's person view, 99.9% of the time, they will think giving someone a killer disease by not telling them is wrong.

And what is morally is right, defines the Laws soooo....?

No, a person's vision of moral rights DOES NOT and should not define a set of laws.

If everyone thinks murder is morally wrong, they will abolish it and make it punishable.

    You stand corrected?

If EVERYONE found something to be morally wrong, than no such wrongs would be committed. That is therefore a silly notion.

    The vast majority. Better?

If you're making a club and someone who is in it suggests that torturing other members is a must and everyone must do it, when making rules, would you consider that when everyone else is opposed to it?

The majority of Americans think atheism is immoral. I am happy that no such law was implemented.

51% is a majority, that doesn't mean people will act on it. Especially on a more important topic/situation. Also, it doesn't it's what goes on in your mind. Yo can say your a christian and still be an atheist, there is no proof possible to show you are.

    Also, I said vast majority.

92% of Americans believe in God. I was unaware that "vastness" was any sort of legal term.

Which reminds me, if it's NOT A LAW, IT'S NOT A LAW! It doesn't matter how many people are for it.

Think of it this way, you happen to have some sort of sexual activity with your spouse/girlfriend/love interest and 2 weeks later you discover they have infected you with HIV, after they told you they didn't have it, wouldn't you want to take some sort of legal action? Anyways HIV testing should be private, but partners should be informed none the less.
