The Danger's of Meeting IRL off the Internet

This is an important matter that should be taken seriously. I have noticed numerous Sythe users meeting in real life to complete a trade. Take my personal story as an example that you should definately take into consideration.

You'd never think it would happen to you until it actually does.
February 28th I was on Sythe viewing some threads of users selling RS accounts and gp and noticed that a few were selling large amounts of gp for large amounts of cash and planned to meet in real life (ironic how i viewed these threads before i was a victim myself). I then logged off, helped my dad paint and then we took a break to go get some food. My Dad buys cars at cheap prices and then sells them for profit, and today he was going to buy an avalanche that he saw off of CraigsList. So we went downtown to the bank to purchase the vehicle and then get the food, we had done this many times so i had no worries or anything. We stopped at the bank, where we were supposed to meet the vile men, and then my Dad opened his door to get to the ATM. Suddenly a man slammed my dad back in the car and forced him onto the floorboard and whipped his gun out and pointed it at his head. And then he said the words that still ring in my head, "Get down or i will blow your brains out". He noticed me, frozen in fear, and then ordered me also to the ground (this was an adult aiming a gun at a 15 year old...). He stole my Dad's 5 grand along with his entire wallet. A second car pulled up and the men forced me and my dad out of our car and drove off with 5 grand and our car. Our truck was later recovered crashed on the side of the road, but the cash was gone.

This is a very serious matter, DO NOT meet with someone you met off the internet, the world is full of sick people. This was a big eye-opener for me and I hope this will change the way you view trading with people you meet online.

 

How dramatic.

You shouldn't be meeting at a bank, all trades should be done at a mall or large restaurant.

 

My mommy taught me this lesson when I was eight.
Yes we all know the dangers of internet, but yet we still use it.
Untill were a victim out selves most of us could care less.

Nicks correct, do this in a more public place.
Anyone could do this, even outside of the internet.

 

If I was ever to do a RL trade, I would bring my mates with me. Numbers will intimidate anyone with even weapons.

My tip: Always travel in numbers.

 

cashiers check + public area easily avoided idk why you would bring 5k cash.

 

Craigslist advises you not to use checks as they'll turn out fake in a couple weeks.

Eh, you take risks every day. Thats just an additional risk you take, the majority of people out there wouldn't do that. Your just unlucky if it happens to you.

 

That part gave me the shivers.

Why the hell would you carry 5 grand with you when meeting someone? That's just plain idiocy.

 

That's pretty sad. Yeah, there are some sick people out there. Amazing what people will do for a little bit of money.

Don't meet people stupidly.... If your just wanna meet your friends, who the fuck cares how you do it... I mean, the chances that a friend you made online is a rapist or some shit is really slim... Just use proper judgment, and do not go carrying around 5grand... :/

 

5 grand ain't a "little bit of money"

 

The trade was supposed to be a 5 grand and the truck we brought to the bank, and the trade was at the bank. We didn't just randomly bring 5 grand with us.

Also, we later found out that the truck we were buying was also stolen =/

 

Not all are sick people just a large amount.

 

If I was meeting someone from the internet I would bring a damn weapon of some sort. Just incase he was rapist/mugger. I would definitly beat their ass with a baseball bat.
