Due to popular demand on my Guide to scoring from close by in basketball i present to you:

The Game of Basketball​

What is Basketball?

Basketball is a very enjoyable and popular sport, where the aim is simple, you must try to put the basketball into a circular hoop which is suspended 10 feet above the ground. By doing this you score points and to win the game you must score more points than the opposing team. Points are scored depending on where the shot is taken, anything taken outside the 3 point line is worth: 3 points. Anything inside is worth 2 points. If there are more than 10 fouls against a team then the player that the foul is against is given 2 free throws. These are worth 1 point each.

Rules
You can't have a game without rules so here they are:
1) no kicking or using any part of the leg to move the ball
2)You can only move the ball up and down the court by passing or by dribbling (bouncing the ball up and down)
3)[called double dribble]if you stop and hold the ball then you must pass or shoot, you cannot start dribbling again.
4)Once you have crossed the halfway line with the ball you cannot go back over it or pass over it unless you loose possesion.
5) You cannot stay in your own half for more than 8 seconds.
6) you cannot stay in the key area for longer than 3 seconds.
7) contact- you cannot stop someone passing or shooting by physically touching them. Although you can intercept/block/stand in front of them. As long as you arn't touching.
8) After 10 fouls the team that was being fouled are given 2 free throws from the free throw line for every foul after the 10th. After the second free throw is taken then the game is "live" meaning that players can attempt to regain possesion of the ball.

Note the person furthest to the left is the referee. On the bottom hand side there are 2 defenders and 1 attacker and on the top there is 1 attack and 1 defender.

Types of basketball shot

JUMP SHOT


Pretty simple. You jump and then shoot.

LAY UP



Basically you run, take two steps without dribbling [any more and its a travel]
and then swing the basketball up to lightly flick it into the net.

THE SLAM DUNK



Probably second most respected. Simplest of the lot, jump and slam it into the hoop.

3 pointer



We mentioned earlier. The only one that can earn 3 points. Probably the most respected as hard to get in.


Free throw


Also mentioned earlier. 1 pointer per free throw.

This is more like it. You go into detail and stuff like your other guide. Good job in covering all of the basics and fundamentals .

To be honest, I am pretty sure that not everyone knows all rules to basketball, and don't post useless comments on my threads please.

 

Nice guide, maybe I won't suck as much at basketball now that I know some of the rules!

Well to be honest, I live in Britain and Basketball is barely played. we don't even show it on television. Football nation unfortunately

Wait, sorry.. Lol. 9/10. It was a nice guide, and it would've even been a perfect 10/10 if you've included some extra tips, such as to not dribble the basketball over your shoulders.
