It may all seem new to the staff because it grants you "mod" powers. It doesn't really hurt to try something new. Maybe we can give it a try for a week or two.

Bad suggestion. Users will just play around with the thread locking and unlocking it. Mods can do this.

Good idea this will cut down on spam as people can lock there thread if for example they are asking a question and it gets answered yet tons of other repeat the same thing causing uneeded spam.

Why have locking perms, when you can PM one of the staff members to lock it for you. Simple.

If hundreds of people PM mods at the same time requesting for a lock, it would be a disaster.

This is an interesting idea. The main point of this update wouldn't be so much as to allow users to lock their own threads quickly (when is it urgent?), but more to take some busywork off of the moderators' hands.

Honestly, I'm sure the mods have better things to do then lock vouch threads and flamefests. There's really no way anyone could abuse this, and it would relieve the mods of a considerable amount of grunt work and thread babysitting.

Overall, I think this would be a great little update to make out (and the mods) lives just a bit easier. I'm not sure how easy this would be for the admins to do in the backend, bit if it's easy I'd definitely say it's worth it.

well, random spammers could come and make a post, lock a post, repeat x100.

I disapprove unless you can only lock a thread 2 times a day :)

That could work.Limit the thread lock to 2 times a day in a 24 hour period.

I believe this would be a good idea. This would take stress off of mods and they can always change the decision if they want.
