Oxygen - Will It Run Out?

i agree with him. by the time we will have to think about this problem the technology will take care of it.

 

As long as photosynthesis is around, we shouldn't have to worry about it.

Yes, we probably will. My reasoning:

-Ever increasing population (more intake of oxygen)
-Destruction of forests/rain forests (bi bi trees )
-Too many botters wcing away our trees! Oh noes!

 

Impossible, so much oxygen is given to the earth through ocean plants as well.

this is a valid question.. BUT.. from what i've learned in my time on earth.. the ocean.. H2O.. is a mixture... it has 2 hydrogen atoms connected to an oxygen atom.. if worse comes to worse.. we'll do what NASA does.. and convert water into oxygen.
The world has been through tougher times than what its going through now

the only way I could see it happening is if (and this is a BIG if) Some maniac country decided to nuke the largest forest's. But then again i'm no scientist and have no clue as to if we get some alternative source of oxygen.

 

The amount of oxygen that we consume is nowhere near the amount of oxygen that plants give off.

people dont look at it as "oxygen running out" since matter cannon dissapear, and therefore it cannot run out.

on the other hand, an increase in CO2 in the atmosphere is lowering the amount of actual breathable air.

so if you take a square meter sample of our atmosphere now and 100 years ago, the older one would presumably contain more oxygen

BUT if you take the whole atmosphere, it will still contain approximately the same amount of oxygen as it did 100 years ago.
itll just contain lots of other junk too that wasnt there before


EDIT: and most of what we breathe is hydrogen, not oxygen (contrary to popular belief)

 

I'm pretty sure that oxygen can't run out... and if it does.. then who cares? We're all gonna die sometime anyways, why not all die together?

Oxygen will never run out, EVER.

 

There is so much oxygen I don't think it would be a problem to even consider until the earth was at it's end.
