    1.Intro
In this guide I will teach you how to maintain and clean your paintball gun.

    2. Benefits
Cleaning your paintball gun with allow it to preform better, and more reliably in the game. It will also prolong the life of your marker.

I personally clean my gun every time after I use it. The first time you try it, it can be confusing. After a while you will get the hang of it and will be able to fully clean it in about 10-15 minutes.

    3.Supplies
You should have your supplies ready before you begin. You should start on a clean open area, so you don't lose any parts and don't get dirt or hair on your internal parts.

    You should have...
    Your gun
    A piece of paper
    Paintball gun oil
    Allen wrench(must fit gun)
Philips and flat head screw driver

    4. Dismantlement
I will warn you, all guns are different and have their internals and externals in slightly different places. This means you should use this as a guide, you WILL have to adapt this for your specific gun

Unscrew your air tank from the gun before you begin. This is very important to your safety!

To start off put all screws on the piece of paper in the order you take it apart. This will help keep the screws dirt free and ensure you can put the gun back together.

Start by unscrewing the air hose from the hand grip/trigger by unscrewing both screws.
Then take your Allen wrench and unscrew the screw that attaches the hose to the rest of the gun.

This should attach the whole air hose mechanism from the gun.

Now unscrew the end from the air hose thing, and you should get this...

Now this is where the paintball gun oil comes in handy. You can pick it up at most sporting good stores. This is the brand I like and use.

Okay back to taking apart the gun. The last picture of the gun I showed you had 3 O-rings visible. Drip about 2 drops of oil on each O-ring.

If the O-ring looks cracked or split I would recommend replacing them. You can usually buy replacement O-rings at most paintball gun or sporting good stores.

Now set the air hose aside and the screws on the piece of paper.

Next you need to unscrew both screws on the trigger/handle. In this picture I will show you one of the screws, the other one is on the other side.

This is where you should be at so far...

Set that aside. All that should be left is this...

This is where it starts to get kinda tricky. Remove the bolt protector from the mechanism.

And then pull out the pin keeping the internals inside the mechanism.

This next step is very IMPORTANT.Slowly pull the bolt out and unscrew the velocity nob. If you do this right you should pull all the bolts parts out in order. Like this...

Then pull it out all the way and you should see the main bolt 2 to 3 O-rings on it, and 1-2 O-rings on the large pin. You will see what I mean in pictures.

Like before oil the O-rings and replace any cracked/severed rings. You should also wipe off any dirt or paint from the internals with a damp cloth. This will really help your guns performance. Now this is the other important part. If you do this wrong your gun WILL NOT WORK.

    5.Reassembly

Now if you took it apart correctly everything should be in the right order. Slowly try to put it back together like so...

Then finish putting the spring and pin and bolt completely back in the gun. screw on the velocity dial.

Now put the pin back in holding the bolt mechanism together. If you did this right you should be able to cock your gun like normal

Then replace the bolt protector and attach the bolt mechanism back to the trigger/handle with the same screws you took it apart with.

Now attach the air hose back to the trigger/handle and main part of the gun.

Congratulations you have successfully cleaned your paintball gun!

I've never really considered wiping down the internals, only squeejee-ing the barrel after each game/or hopper if im just firing; mainly for the fear I lose something/break something.

Well detailed guide, just fix those two pictures.

Loved it. I was thinking of buying a paintball gun for fun just to play around with. You know the range of them, just for a starter and to play around with?

Ya paintball guns are a great thing, I recommend you get a tipman 98 custom. Its a great beginner gun and the 98 is highly customizable, at a good price.

Definitely go with the model/custom 98. I have two of them, and literally it's the M16 of paintball. Very reliable, and durable. Not much maintenance, and you can do just about anything to it. Don't get the A-5 though (as pretty as it looks), it's a deathtrap.
