    Fish..meat?

The ancient idea that FISH is not MEAT comes from the fact that when a freshly caught fish is sliced - it does not bleed blood.

Also that they are seafood and don't live on land.

Yes, it does. I don't really know about the "slicing of it" but i know that if you catch a fish by hook, they will bleed.

Whales, sharks, crabs, manatee's, clams, etc aren't meat just because they live on land?

Last time i checked, they eat other animals and plants, not produce their own food.

    Fish..meat?

Fish are animals. They are 'alive' and have systems like any other blooded animal. I guess someone could be really smart and say plants have systems too but in science fish arent classified as plants. They get their food by eating it; not soaking up the nutrients or taking in the light. They also give birth and not 'spawn' like a plant would. There's also the matter of blood like animals and bones as well. Scientifically and logically fish are animals; not plants, and thus eating them is eating a form of meat.

But...where did that whole 'fish are meat' thing originate? I googled it and the best I could find was back in the Christian ruling days (think middle ages) the majority of the population (which was quite impoverished) lived off a little bread and mainly fish. To not eat fish people would starve. So when lent came around and people had to give something up (ala meat) fish was made exempt.

One thing i can say that separates fish from poultry is that it doesn't provide a nutritious amount of proteins in a normal serving as beef or chicken would.
    That is in similar quantities.

Look at the top right side of a post. It should be a red sign with a (!) on It i think. Simply click it for the post considered spam. Fill in that he was spamming or advertising (It will automatically quote the post so need to do it). A Mod will review it and if found to be guilty they will receive a warning or infraction.
