    Madhacker's Your friendly [NJROTC] Guide!

Okay, before I start, the reason I am writing this guide is because JROTC is very popular amoung highschools, and I've always assumed most people on sythe are in, or very close to being in their highschool years.

The reason im doing NAVY JROTC, is because out of all four JROTC's this is the most popular, most schools are Navy JROTC's.
In the future I may do guides for Airforce, and Army, but seeing how coastguard almost is empty here in the U.S I will not bother with that.

Next to Navy JROTC, comes Airforce, since they are secound most populated in the United States.

    Fair WARNING!
This guide is ment for JROTC, or future JROTC cadets, this is not a poloitics discussion about "War", and "military". That is something that belongs in the SFA sections (Something for all), Dont bring it into my thread! If you do I will report it as spam..

    T.O.C
    Introduction [Read above]
    General Orders to the sentry
    Chain of Command
How to wear the uniform "Summer blues".
    Finally..

Some NJROTC's may do this a diffrent way, Im sorry, but I do it the way I was taught, and how I've intructed as my schools position of Armed Ex, and CO position.

    General Orders
Well during a competition, or "Area Feild meet" you WILL be asked your orders to the sentry, I am going to take me time, and write them out, then explain an easy way to memorize.

All orders to the senttry will be first given in this sentance
Ma'am/sir this cadets __ general order to the sentry is......
It is the most proper, and is written out, and instructed in the NJROTC feild manual!

    1. Take charge of this post and all government property in view.

    2. Walk my post in a military manner, keep always on the alert and reporting everything that takes place within site or hearing.

    3. Report all violations of orders I am instructed in enforce.

    4. Repeat all calls from post more distant from the guardhouse (quarter-deck) than my own.

    5. Quit my post only when properly relieved.

    6. Receive, obey, and pass on the the sentry who releives me, all orders from the commanding officer, comand duty officer, officer of the day, officer of the deck, and officers and petty officers of the watch only.

    7. Talk to no one except in the line of duty.

    8. Give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.

    9. Call the corporal of the guard or officer of the deck in any case not covered by instructions.

    10. Salute all officers and all colors and all standards not cased.

    11. Be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, challenge all person on or near my post, and no allow no one to pass without proper authority.

    Easy, right?
Anyways, all you simply need to do, is work on them ONE AT A TIME. Do not try, and memorise them all at the same time, it will not work.
Lets take number seven for instance "Talk to no one except in the line of duty", simply repeat this in your head, while looking at the paper, repeat this around twenty-five times. Then lower the book, and say it out loud.
Repeat these for all, number six, will probably take you more time, along with four, and eleven, seeing how they are more long.

    Chain of Command
I cannot tell you all of your chain of command, seeing how we all live in diffrent states, I cannot tell you "Secretary of the state", or "Area manager".
In this case my secretary of the state is Hilary clinton, and my area seven manager is Commander Dirk Hebert. Yours may differ.

Before you state the chain of command the following sentance must be used.
Sir/Ma'am the ________ (Their position) is the honorable ______ (Their name)

In a feild meet you will only be asked the following.

Commander in chief- Is the honorable barack obama
Secretary of defence- Is the honorable Robert gates
Secretary of the Navy- Is the honorable Donald Winter
Chief of Naval operations- Admiral Gary Roughead
Chief of Naval Education and Training- Rear admiral Gary Jones
Chief of Naval service educationa nd training command- Rear admiral Clifford Sharpe

An easy way to memorise this, is look for something in the name, and link it.
    For example.
Secretary of defence "What defends people?", "A gate!!"
    Hence, Robert Gates!

How to properly wear the uniform.
Well this is just for summer blues, the most commonly used uniform.
    How to wear this?
Well im going to tell you the measurements, for each device.
You should have studied in your feild manual however.

    J bar
1 7/8 of an inch, and centerd.
    Rank
1 7/8 of an inch, and centerd.
    Ribbons
1/4 of an inch left shirt pocket, and centerd (I suggest you use backing)
    NameTag
1/4 of an inch right shirt pocket, and centerd (I suggest you use backing)
    Stars
1/4 of an inch, from the top of your ribbons.

    What is backing?
Backing can be stirafoam, cardboard, or anything, that is placed behind your shirt, and through the tic tacs, and then you hook your frogs on (Clips)
This helps keep the ribbons, nametag, from slopping down, and looking bad, trust me it helps!

    GIG-LINE
    I cannot stress this enough!
All of my cadet's gig-lines, are horrible.
They just cannot get it through their thick skulls.

Gig line is a line that should go from the top of your shirt, to the end of your crouch.
For males you align your belt to the left, to straighten the gig-line, and fe-males go from the right.
The line needs to be perfectly straight from the center open of your shirt, all the way to the end of your crouch.

    IP's
Irish pinet, I believe it came from the marines.
Anyways, its little peices of string, from your uniform.
I dont know if your PC, Commanding office even looks for these.
I do, and so does Commander, and Msrg as well.

All you need to do is look for IP's in hott places.
    • On top of buttons
    • Around the belt area
    • On the belt
    • Bottom of your pant legs
Those are not the only places though, just hott spots.
Carefully go over these with a knife, or such.
    Do not cutt your uniform!

    Shine your brass!
It looks horrible when you dont!
Your local wal-mart has brass shineing materials,
even your ROTC potable may support some.
    It doesn't take long!
I will tell you the secret I use.
Go over the brass with the cloth material for one minute or so,
tare a peice of a newspaper, and go in a line sideways, to sideways.
It will become shiney very quick.

    Shine your shoes.
I suggest going into the back of K-mart to the dress shoes,
where they support a bunch of shoe shineing material.
    All you need to do.
Cover your fingre in a cloth,
    dip it in water,
do around in little circles, on the surface.
Now get a bit of shine, and do the same thing.
Untill your shoes look very dull, or such.
Now, get a clean side of the cloth, dip it in water.
Go over it again, and it begins to shine.
Repeat this proscess untill it as white as the sky!

    Get rid of lint
This can be any type of fur.
Use a lint roller to get rid of it,
they are fairly cheap, and some of them come with a scent,
    and smell real good =]!
Use one! Especially if your like me, and own 3 cats, all white!!

    Finally..
Well thats all I can fit in for this guide really,
uhm, if all goes well I will continue with the guides.

If everyone seems to enjoy, the next guide will be on Drill!
The most famous, and fun event in JROTC, and maybe get into some orienteering?
Well untill then I hope you enjoyed my guide!
    Thanks everyone!

    Madhacker's Your friendly [NJROTC] Guide!

May we know why this Guide is in the Help and Requests Section?

    Anyways...

    I would change to:
Now, after the grammatical errors, there were no question asked. All that I noticed were the ranking of officials in the United States Government.

The color in the Guide is somewhat lacking as well, and made me bored after quite a bit. I'm not exactly sure what you're presenting either, because I don't know what 'NJROTC' is.
-Yes, it's easily Googleable, but you should be the one including that in your Guide.

I'm not trying to be harsh, but I'm just trying to give constructive criticism. I'm hoping that you can re-read through your Guide, and help to expand on it somewhat more.

    Rating: 6/10

    Good luck.
