Anyone believe in a Fourth Dimension? Some think it's time, some think it's space. I personally think it's space. I think it's really cool reading about it. They have something that's called a tesseract,
    [IMG]
which is a shadow of a 4d cube since the human mind will never be able to think about what a 4 dimensional object will look like.

Watch that video. Hopefully it can explain some more stuff.

According to this video, the 4th dimension is time (duration).

It all depends on what you think it is. If you think it's time, go ahead. If you think it's space, go ahead :p

The Fourth Dimension is obviously mac and cheese.

On a serious note I think that it does exist, is it time or space? Who knows.

Honestly, there could be any number of dimensions which we don't know about. The first three all exist, but in no specific order... so why is this argument about what the fourth dimension is, and not about how many more are possible?

Time is obviously a dimension. The fact that it only moves in one direction for us doesn't change the fact that it exists. In fact, there are lots of programs which allow the creation of graphs with three inputs and one output (or any four values) by using x, y, z, and t as the dimensions.

Now as for other spacial dimensions, there is no way for us to know or understand them. That's not to say they don't exist, but we would need some huge leap in technology for any other spacial dimensions to be uncovered or understood.

I heard that us human's wouldn't experience anymore dimension higher than the 3rd.

Because we are only three dimensional at max. Interesting though

If you're confused, use this to contemplate: 3d is to 2d as 4d is to 3d

    Makes things easier

I always thought that the 4th dimension is time and space? If we ever fully understand the 4th dimension, wouldn't it be possible that it could lead to the discovery of time travel? I think that the "wormholes" in space are 4d, and if we can again, fully understand the working of the fourth dimension, we can probably understand time travel, or "wormholes".

Can other people see what I'm trying to get at? I'm known for ending up rambling about nonsense, but that's how I see 4d.

There are already believed to be much more than 4 dimensions. According to string theory there are ten, with six of them curled up into a tiny manifold that we couldn’t see.

However with the advent of "The Second Superstring Theory" it becomes much more confusing. http://www.theory.caltech.edu/people/jhs/strings/

String theory is a great explanation, but until it can be tested with the scientific method, it will remain just a possible explanation over an unkown altnernative.
