Metal Dragon Hunting! Take a Look!

Metal Dragon Hunting
________________________________________

[Introduction]

This is a guide written to help some of you further understand and kill Metal Dragons effectively. I will try and be as defined and thorough as possible. Both Iron and Steel dragons are very high levels, so unless you meet the minimum suggested level requirement you shouldn't venture down into Brimhaven Dungeon.

First off, if your going to melee / mage these suckers you will ALWAYS need to have an anti-fire dragon shield equipped. As I've heard and read in other guides, anti-fire shields only protect against 70% of the dragon breathe, so combined with anti-fire potions, you will receive full coverage and not take any damage from afar.

This guide is sole purpose is for melee / mage combatants only. Sorry rangers, but I have no experience in ranging the dragons whatsoever.

[Location]

MISC. INVO - Any woodcutting axe, 1000gp.

The Iron and Steel dragons are located in Brimhaven Dungeon. The route I usually take is teleporting to Adrougne and taking the boat east of the southern bank. However it requires 30gp to board the ship. After I reach Brimhaven, follow the map I have outlined below:

Once you reached the entrance to the dungeon, you will than need to pay Saniboch 875 gp to enter the dungeon. Once you've entered the dungeon follow this outline to find the metal dragons effectively:

A little reminder is that there are also Wild Dogs and Black Demons that get very annoying when your trying to find your way to the metal dragons. As if they make you waste the food you bring or whether your trying to cut the roots to proceed into the next room. You might have to kill them in order to do so.

Once your there if your looking to kill steel dragons I would highly recommend this area to stand in:

Only because your in between two steel dragons and when your done fighting one, the other one will be only a few short steps away. These dragons spawn abnormally fast compared to other monsters as well.

[Recommended Levels]

For Iron Dragons:

80 Attack
80 Strength
70 Defense
80 Hitpoints
55+ Prayer

For Steel Dragons:

90 Attack
90 Strength
80 Defense
90 Hitpoints
60+ Prayer

Now remember these are just recommendations, not requirements.

[Recommended Equipment]

Here is most likely the best equipment set-up for a warrior:

As for your inventory, I would suggest this, it has worked perfectly, and timely if you have at least 55 prayer and the recommended levels:

Instead of using the tele crystal I would suggest bringing Adrougne teleport runes (2 waters, 2 laws), and don't forget the woodcutting axe in your inventory also. As a side note, I would like to mention as well that the armor I am recommending may look like initiate, but infact it is what is called proselyte. And I would deff. choose this over initiate. Not only does it have better melee defense stats, but it gives +prayer bonus, which is mainly what we are looking for.

Here is most likely the best equipment set-up for a mage:

Now on to your inventory. You will not be using prayer potions if your going to be maging them. Here is an ideal look at what your inventory should look like:

You may want to remove a few sharks and replace them with a couple more anti-fire potions, this set-up is mainly for beginners.

[Equipment Alternatives]

Melee
Hitting the dragons is more a more important factor than prayer bonus could be in this scenario. I find it that I hit alot of 0's and wasting prayer if I use berserker helm, It does help you hit more accurately instead of the + defense bonus the warrior helm would give. OR if this is a slayer task, wear the Black Mask over anything. The +15 strength bonus is unbeatable.

So if your going to be using berserker, or black mask you might want to invest in a fury amulet. As it gives +prayer and could match the defense bonus you lost in warrior helm.

Mage
Their really are no substitutions, only besides replacing the ahrims with any kind of mystic. And replacing the fury with a glory.

[Melee Strategies]

I will introduce melee strategies first than move on to mage strategies second.

Step One
As SOON as you step foot into the lair where the black demons are located, I would suggest sipping 1 dose of your pure set (super strength, and super attack) and 1 anti-fire potion, and checking to see if your prayer is fully charged, and click on your protect melee. Than proceed into the room were the dragons are.

Step Two
Once your in their start running to the spot I have indicated at the top of the guide. Once you are their, whip out your DDS++ and spec the steel dragon once or twice, until it is poisoned. In order for it to be poisoned you do not always have to do damage, but I always like to do some damage, as it is more effective while trying to PSN it.

Step Three
Switch to your abyssal whip, and beat down on it, ALWAYS checking your prayer and ALWAYS looking at the chat box to see if it says "your potion has protected you from the flame" or something of that nature. Anti-fire potions last around 4-5 minutes so be sure to check every now and than. If your like me you lose track of your prayer, and at the last second you realize your using it and it just turns off on you. So always remember to check back on your prayer.

Step Four
Once you finished killing the dragon, you will hopefully get a dragon skirt, legs, shield half, or spear. The chances are EXTREMELY significant dropping rate compared to other monsters who drop these same items. However most of the time they drop bloods, or runite limbs or rune dart(p) which are also good. Well once your done picking up the things you want, continue on to the next steel dragon several steps away.

Guidelines
Always remember to check your prayer points when fighting dragons, they tend to run out at the least expected time. And remember to look at the chat box every now and than for the "you've been protected by your anti-fire potion" text.

A good rule of thumb is to try and keep all your combat stats excluding hitpoints and defense 10 points above their regular stature. If you wait to use them until your almost back at your regular stats, it will throw you off balance and killing as many dragons as you could.

For the first 10 or so minutes the dragons will stay aggressive towards you so be on your toes when attacking your finished killing one. You might be surprised out of nowhere.

If the dragons are no longer aggressive and your killing them reasonably fast to were you wait alittle while before the next one spawns, you may turn off your protect melee prayer, to conserve prayer.
________________________________________
[Mage Strategies]

Step One
Once you step foot in the room with black demons I would advise sipping your anti-fire potion now, and also making sure you have your spell on auto-cast, and final have some prayer. Once you've checked these enter into the next room where the dragons are located.

Step Two
After you've managed to do your prep work, go to the northern steel dragon nook. And start casting your fire bolt (preference). Keep casting until the dragon is dead, once he is dead pick up the drops that you want to carry. And a suggestion, I would wait till the next steel respawns, only because you kind of want to wait before you enter in between my "X" spot indicated acouple sections up. The wait is only about 10 seconds anyways, so it's not that long of a wait.

Step Three
Once you notice the dragons are no longer hostile, proceed to the X and sit their and kill the 2 steels, once you've done this, you can pretty much sit their as long as you have anti fire potions. Which if you bring enough rooms maybe a very long time.

Guidelines
Some minor things to remember, make sure you have auto-cast on. Make sure you peek at your chat box around every 4-5 minutes, too look for the "your anti-fire potion protects you against the breathe", if it does not say that, or something relatively close, sip one of your anti-fires

Do NOT forget to bring teleport runes. Not only does it get annoying and very tedious, but walking back is a hassle and is a big waste of time.

[Mithril Dragons]

The reason mithril dragons get their own section is because most people today are looking for a really detailed and well explain guide to killing these level 304 monsters. Not only are they the highest metal dragon, but they are hard to reach, unlike any of the others.
________________________________________
[Introduction]

You remember the difference between iron dragons and steel dragons? How easy iron dragons are compared to steels. Well this is the same way for mithrils and steels. In this section I will explain how to kill/get to the mithril dragons as well as the part of the mini-quest required to enter the Baxtorian Dungeon.
________________________________________
[Recommended Levels]

90 Attack
90 Strength
90 Defense
90 Hitpoints
65 Prayer
________________________________________
[Barbarian Training Mini-quest]

In order to even reach the Mithril Dragons you need to complete a very small portion of the mini-quest "Barbarian Training". Which doesn't even take 10 minutes.

Required Levels:
• 21 Firemaking
Inventory:
• Any woodcutting axe
• Any shortbow
• GAMES Necklace
Once you have everything using your GAMES necklace teleport to barbarian outpost. Walk alittle south until you reach Otto's Grotto. Once you've reached his little cabin, go inside and talk to him about the 3rd topic. Which will include the word "Firemaking". Click it and skip through his conversation if you like. After your done you will need to acquire one oak log. Follow the outlined picture below to only oak tree in the area:

Cut one oak log and than use the shortbow you brought with the oak log and you've made fire! Lol it could come in handy I guess. Now that you've done this, go back and talk to otto. He will than lead you into a long conversation about how the ancient dungeon. Skip and teleport to any bank.

[Recommended Equipment]

Now that you've partially completed the required step into getting into the Bax Dungeon you will need to start thinking about what equipment you will need to bring. As before I will give you 2 ways to approach this, Mage, and Melee.

These is what I recommend if your going to be maging the Mithril Dragons:

• As for the gloves I would suggest your RFD gloves or mystic gloves, If I recall chaos gauntlets do nothing for blast spells.

Recommended Inventory:
• Enough runes for 400-600 fire blasts
• 4 Anti-fire (4) potions
• 10 Super Restores (4)
• GAMES Necklace
• Adrounge Tele's
• 9 Sharks

If your choosing melee as your combat style, than here is the armor set-up for you:

• Don't forget to wear ring of wealth.

Recommended Inventory:
• 2 Super Attack (4)
• 2 Super Strength (4)
• 2 Anti-fire (4) potions
• 8 Super Restores (4)
• GAMES Necklace
• Adrounge Tele's
• 11 Sharks
________________________________________
[Strategies]

{Magic Combat Style}

First once you enter the Bax Dungeon turn on protection from magic, as the high level brutal dragons shoot blast spells at you and do imense damage after awhile. Go past the brutal dragons and head for the ladder to get to the second level. Once your in their, in order to kill the level 304 Mithril Dragon, you will need to corner it into a spot were the other mith dragons won't interfere. Because honestly that gets annoying.

Since your farcasting he will be attack you with all 3 combat styles. So mainly you want to keep protection from range on. As that will damage you the most. Once you get in a safe place where no other dragons can interfere, start attack the mith dragon with your fire blast or ice burst. If you get damaged eat some food.

Once your done killing the dragon quickly pick up the remains he drops and than get ready for another mith dragon. For maging, that is about it.
________________________________________
{Melee Combat Style}

If your choosing melee as your style, first once you enter the Bax. Dungeon turn on protection from magic, as the high level brutal dragons shoot blast spells at you and do imense damage after awhile. Go past the brutal dragons and head for the ladder to get to the second level. Once your in their, you will need to follow these steps in order to kill the level 304 Mithril Dragon. Different from magic you may go anywhere in second level of the dungeon, because your not farcasting, you don't have to worry about being interrupted.

Once you get into level 2 of the Bax dungeon, turn on protection from melee, and sip your pure sets (super strength, super attack), and your anti-potion. Since your wearing karils or black dragon hide, the magic he shoots at you will not harm you much. So continue on hitting the mithril dragon until he is dead. Once he is collect his remains. And that's really it. Just keep on killing.

If your low on food and around half life, teleport to Adrougne using the runes you brought, bank, and repeat.

Post your Feedback.

Obs: Most of the pictures in this guide are from private servers and runehq.

Very detailed guide. Like it. You don't go too in depth about ranging.... A LOT of people range steel and irons. I have never been to mith drags so I wouldn't know about them

Thanks and Btw: This don't include Ranging because I never ranged them and don't know very much about it.

I rather prefer to don't have ranging too then just have a couple lines with crap information about it.

Thanks =]

Metal Dragon Hunting! Take a Look!

No, this guide IS MINE.

I used RuneHq images so what? I know i should come with pictures of my own but yea call me a "Poor Noob". I can't afford that stuff and I'm not even mems but can't I make a decent guide just because of that? Just because I'm a leacher I can't do a good guide? Anyways.

That's why i used those pictures.

But this guide is not to take credits or anything, it's only to help people so idc about bad comments.

Thanks to the people who haven't said this guide isn't mine, because it is.
