This is false when it comes to being drafted to a war. People don't get a choice - they have to go to war.

(First off, if Sythe or any other regular poster is reading this, sorry I dissapeared again for so long. I really dont have a lot of time and its generally during school vacations that I can post at all. Sorry again)

    @ the topic:

What the fuck are you even talking about? Personal liberty laws have nothing to do with being drafted, they are two separate issues.

You are taking away his right to do whatever he wants, and replacing it with a death mark. How are they separate?

Well, yes, logically they fall in the same category. But legally (and properly), the right, for instance, to be gay or smoke pot or drink alcohol, is in a completey different region than the right to deny military service. The main thing here is that personal liberty laws, (which I support extensively) are not laws that are tangibley hurtful to the nation:last time I checked, the right to be who you want to be is not harmful. However, the right to deny military service to your country when this is is TANGIBLEY HARMFUL is an entirely different issue. The draft isn't nice, but its necesary (not that there is one right now). Especially when very few people have a problem with the moral/liberty part of the draft which you pupport to be on the side of. More likely, like so many anti-drafters, you have a political disagreement with the government and dont want to fight for that. And no offense, but thats selfish, and pathetic.

Here's a better idea though. You don't want to be drafted? Educate yourself, and become such a valuable member or future valuable member of the country that you won't be drafted. There's a reason why students and doctors aren't drafted.

So just because a old hag in office has to show his guns and fight another country, i should have to pay for it? Sorry, i don't help resolve other peoples problems.

Why is it selfish? Sorry, my life is more important than going off to a foreign place and giving away my life. I am glad you feel you should though, you go give your life and ill sit here.

That doesn't always help you. When Hitler overtook germany, he forced doctors and scientist to work for him. Thats a bitch.

Ah yes, because reducing war to an old man's dickfight is always applicable and legitimate.

...They still weren't drafted. Again, if you have a political problem with fighting for your country (Or helping it non militarily in that case), then thats a different issue from being anti-draft.

Either that or religion. Pick your poison.

They were still forced to do something that they normally wouldn't of done (some of them)

I am anti draft, i don't think you should be able to force the people to do your bidding.

Leave this crap in middle school please. Or at least educate yourself before you make a blanket statement.

I'm very pro-personal freedom, but the draft is an issue of national security, not freedom.

the us doesnt even draft anymore- you have to register, but it hasn't been instituted for ages
if you live in a country that institutes a draft, too bad. You love in their country. You abide by their rules. Your life? Move then.

I guess it's messed up but if the U.S. is running out of troops, they have to get more somehow. You don't have to sign up for draft when you grow up, but when and if there is a draft you will be arrested. I don't know how long the arrest is, but if it isn't that long then it's worth going to jail than to war. What I don't understand is that Mohammed Ah Lee (don't think I spelled that correctly) didn't go to war when forced to because he said his Muslim religion did not allow him to go to war, yet we are fighting against these suicidal maniacs who are Muslim.

the us laws pardon certain people of pacifist religions not to go to war, but to do some other type of public service.
you do need to register for the draft when you turn 18

Er how is it not an issue of freedom? It quite obviously is - "you will fight in my army or go to jail"

I live on my property. Why should I leave because some morons in washington arbitrarily decide that I'll be drafted?

Offering better compensation would be a better alternative. (Excluding the fact that their funds are coerced from the general populace)
Muhammed Ali did go to jail. I think it was for a year. Also, it's worth noting that that was the 30s or 40s while this is the 00s. The enemy by and large was not Muslim.

The draft is not morally right in my opinion,

America, home of the free.....unless we need you to fight.

This isn't true. If you're somehow drafted, claim you're Almish/another religion that doens't allow fighting/war. Or, claim pacifist. Either way, there are ways from out of a draft.

Haha ya that's the best way too get out, just make up some religious crap. Anyways, I agree that drafts are dumb. If there's ever a draft I'm going to Canada. I like the country of USA but the government is terrible.

ROFL. Are you REALLY comparing the USA to Germany and Hitler?!?! Do you understand...aha...nah I'm not gonna flame you too harshly here. The USA is a representative republic, whereas Hitler's Germany was a fascist dictatorship. I'm not going to outline the laws of either. You are SERIOUSLY ignorant for comparing the two, and if you would like to differ with my statement, look up the definition of both then come back.

All I can say is: YOU VOTED FOR THEM.

Let me remind you who the Nazi's were: Before they called themselves the "Nazi's" they were known as the National Socialist Party. Think about that one for a little bit.
