Is Sythe/Oldschool RS still profitable?

Covid hit me hard, no jobs for my season.

Is sythe still profitable / rs?

Flipping Gold
Selling Accs
Main renting?

Anything really, would it be beneficial to create a website even?

GP has pretty low margins, but it depends of start budject and reputation also.
Account selling and renting sounds good.

Everything depends of reputation. It's hard.

 

It would be tough for you. It can be profitable, obviously, but takes time. You will struggle to compete with the larger/established sellers on GP. Accounts could be a good way, but you lack reputation which is what’s important on those.

You could try the name market. There’s also a lot of potential markup in RSPS GP sales.

TL;DR, going to be a challenge for you.. but anything is possible!

 

there are definitely people who are making a significant amount from gp services, find something unique, i think even some multi-level client boosters/power levelers are making quite decent money playing/ some enjoy it and some do not. expect to pay a deposit.

Understandably reputation is everything on Sythe and its not the easiest thing to work on.. thats why im personally trying to be active and post.. i have a semi-unique services in which i want to offer but need to build up reputation and know its not an overnight thing.

Cant wait for the future though -

Exactly and i guess from your perspective they would have resources and certain things to pay for where as a private individual seller/farmer you simply wouldn't so there is margin in there its just ensuring you go the right way about getting it through.

Unless providing a service or renting, doubt it.

 

I think if your prices for account sales/renting are VERY competitive (aka lower) than your competition, it will only take a few to trust you, so you can get a better reputation. Once the reputation builds, then you can start charging more for the accounts/renting.

Plus, account renting is already a sunk cost, you have already maxed the account (or close to it), so any rents is pure profit.

 

Definitely less profitable than before but i think you can still make a decent amount if you're committed and know what you're doing.

 

Margins are very small. I personally wouldn't consider skilling services/osrs gold selling as profitable. I would recommend spending time finding a small job and using osrs as a way to de-stress. Good luck.

 

It really depends. If you manage to market yourself well and reach/attract a certain audience, you can either:

1. Make transactions will small margins but with high volume
2. Vice versa.

tldr; though this industry is quite competitive, you can definitely still make money if you put in the time and effort.

 

Buy bulk sell high, when it comes to gold that is always how the market is.
lots of people wish to unload excess stock which is cheaper (especially during a decline in gp value)
there are also lots of people just wishing to buy exactly what they need (small quantity high margins)
gp trading in my eyes is always viable for that alone, its just buying and selling.

whats my opinion worth I've been absent from services or otherwise for nearly a year, but that is my opinion from back then and believe it always stands.

 

I make around $80 per day from selling the gold that my bots profit. Also earn a lot from selling accounts and other misc things.

 

It’s hard if you don’t have a lot of vouches/good rep. I’d say your best bet would be renting a main/staker. It’s just pure profit at that point.

edit: if you play OSRS for fun and are training up one of your own accounts, you may as well provide skilling services as well to make some passive money while you’re on your grind.
