Will America Hit Great Depression ?

To those who say they don't live in America, so they wouldn't care: Many other countries rely on us for exports/imports, and if we fall down a bit, other countries would come town a bit too - economy wise.

One good reason why we're in this recession is because people don't save things up, and buy stuff whenever they have the money. One of my teachers told me that it's wise to save at least a half years worth of salary, in case you ever get fired/quit, and if it's going to be hard to find a job again.

No, Our country is too technological to go into another depression. We will hit rock bottom but not to the point like in the 1920's something like that won't happen again. It's just going to be another rough couple years. Thats all.

 

Yes. There are many new laws and such that will make it so that a depression like the Great Depression will never happen again, but it is still pretty bad... I agree with you, as even if stops getting worse, it will take awhile to get better.

The US government has to get the money somewhere. As stated in Zeitgeist II, (American) money is created out of thin air. So if this continues, they have to create more money, causing money to loose it's value, also known as deflation. Worst case scenario: Zimbabwe.

It doesn't matter what they do with it. If you pump that much money into the economy, the dollar is worth zero to shit, which causes prices to sky rocket, thus leading to a depression.

Your not increasing the amount of money in the system, just spending it in new ways... The great depression was a combination of bad laws, horrible crops and other factors...

Obama's plan is to invest in tax cuts for those who are spending money(and tax breaks in general), new government jobs for things such as alternative energy and shit... They want to create and save jobs with the money, and they want people to go spend money... People have to spend money to save businesses which will make the economy better...

The dollar is worth shit already, and I do not think prices will spike super high... And, things such as milk for example, are VERY cheap now... Many dairy farmers are LOSING money from milk being SO cheap... Making milk prices go up would be a good thing...

 

America will not go into another Great Depression. Recession yes, but not a depression. Not in the current circumstances at least.

 

You are giving people money, which its a risk game. You are giving them money at a time when most people are saving it, instead of spending it. You are hoping they spend it, but you can't make them, therefor the plan is not full proof.

Have you been listening to the news? When the government gave the banks millions of dollars, they have lost all track of it. They are even spending it on stupid shit, like putting a sign on a baseball field. Know how much that costs? Millions on millions. So, your money is going to waste.

 

i said yes even though i dont think it will happend. i wish it wont i want to stay in america and i dont want to lose my job. Obama was in office for 2 weeks, i dont think its enough to even do something about it, give him the time and maybe it will get better, as for too technological. thats bull shit right there. u need money for technology..no money no technology so no, technology isent going to solve everything in this problom but i do think we are going to come out of this deppression sometime. but until then all we can do is pray that we wont lose our jobs right?

 

Part of the plan I think is to give people that are spending money on home renovations tax cuts... Thats what 2 economists on BBC said they needed to do more of... A large part of the plan is to save or create jobs... Like 4 million or something... Part of that is giving states cash to save a police officers job instead of firing him type deal... But the giving states unregulated money is retarded... :/

Yes they did, but I am pretty sure this new package will not be going to any banks or anything... Bush needed to get some people that watched over the money he gave out, but he never did... And the sign on the field... The company says its "all their own money", which is bullshit... If you needed to get bailed by the government, then you need to change your ways, and that is retarded, I agree.... >.<

 

As I am aware, the stimulus package has not reached vote yet. Not to conclude late Friday night, February 06, 2009, Senators concluded that they HAD enough votes to pass the package.
