I don't think its a big deal. Its just a little weed can't do much. But if he were to smoke during training season or whatever than thee woul have to be consequences. As soon as I saw this on ESPN I knew there would be a thread about it on sythe, lol.

 

I still think he should get his medals took off him. Many other Medalist have been caught taking drugs and had them taken away.

I disagree with you. I mean yea, he was partying at a college and was smoking weed, which is illegal, but in my opinion it's not that big of a deal. He never got to go to college and party because he was busy training, etc. for the Olympics.

 

Which was his choice, he could have went to college. And since when is not going to college a good enough reason to smoke.

 

young kids look up for these celebrities ... and they should act and behave like role models ....

 

I just got more respect for phelps, and nice one for him bonging it.

 

Being a pro athlete shouldn't be a burden on having fun.

 

It's not a reason at all, what I'm just saying is he is young, and most people his age have or do experiment with marijuana.

 

I understand it is wrong he did it in the first place, but seriously, the only reason everyone hates him now is because the media brainwashes people into thinking Marijuana is an evil substance, when it's just a plant that gives you pleasure and causes no harm. If the media didn't brainwash people into this he wouldn't be in such big trouble.

I would see it as a bigger deal if he was smoking cigarettes though. That's because of health and lung defects though, so whatevs.

I saw it in the news this morning, he has been suspended, not because he was using an illegal drug, but because he is a rolemodel.

Screw you man, you fail. That man accomplished more than you EVER will in your miserable life. Just because an athlete did/does drugs doesn't make him a bad person. Look at Diego Maradona, he is one of the best football player (soccer) in the world and he did alot cocaïne, and people still love him.

Honestly, who cares. Even if he is one of the biggest role models, people have to face reality. People smoke weed, who cares. Also, he is in his 20's and he was at a house party. DUH!?!? A large majority of people around that age smoke weed. It's normal.

hopefully he's learned from his mistake.

but that really puts some "black marks" on his account.
