do you know " Chinese New year"

HI, everyone, I just finished my 7 days holiday, its chinese new year. this year is 牛 year. 牛 means cattle, there are 12 animals , they are mouse, cattle, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep,Monkey, chiken, dog, pig. sounds funny ? lol , in china we call newyear's day as spring festival, its the most important festival during a year. like Christmas day in western country. In the last day of a year. family members will be together for dinner (we call it year-meal), children get small red package which contains money from parents and grandparents... they wear new clothes, showes. and then neighbors will visit each others. with saying wishes...... very very joyful...

    Don't needlessly criticize people.

You wrote "what I could understand", so you were able to understand it but you can't understand it now?

    Why did you capitalize "A"?

You used a question mark when your sentence wasn't phrased as a question.

You shouldn't have had much trouble reading his or her post. One learns by doing, one shall become a better writer by writing. Don't criticize needlessly we're all not perfect.

Chinese New Year down here always spells out a few weeks of lion dance performances and a ton of fireworks.

Can you learn some proper manners before posting?

Every part of the world celebrates it IF they are influence by it or a chinese or somehow related by it. I got quite a lot of red packets this past few days.

currently living in China, fireworks went off like crazy last week and the week before that-you couldn't hear yourself speak in your own house. I couldn't watch a movie properly, had to watch with crap subtitles on :(

ppl here do celebrate normal new years too, but they celebrate CNY at a MUCH larger extent...they also have a day that they celebrate a money God or sth I don't know much about. That was some day last week, fireworks x100 than CNY. Lotsa chinese people greedy for money >_> care more about the money celebration whatever day than CNY or regular new years...

at least I had a two-week vacation cos of CNY :) and a meager 100-kuai red packet (abt $10-20) >______>

Gong Hee Fot Choy... if you're Cantonese (which I am). Anyways, during Chinese New Year my extended family goes out to have a meal together and we get the red envelops as well. That's pretty much it though; I don't keep track of the Lunar year, but my grandparents do. I'd say even though the Holiday is still celebrated it's due to tradition, most people go by the Gregorian calendar in this day and age.
