tax payers spend tens of millions of dollars towards coaching, infrastructure and training olympic athletes. the public deserves more than a apology.

 

no big deal. about his sponsors - he will probably lose some but will have them all back by the next olympics. kobe raped somebody and his image has been fully restored to what it was before so i don't see this hurting phelps too much in the long run.

 

Why? He is still the best swimmer around, and still has the medals.
