It makes a huge difference, yes - there is no difference in moral characteristics between an embryo and an amoeba.

    To quote myself:

I understand that "the mother has a right to do it"; but I've always thought of abortion essentially as murder.. I really want to see a good point of view from someone who deems abortion acceptable.

    Tough topic for me :/

What if giving birth to the child would mean that the child is born with a terminal illness? Is it still wrong to abort the child if it means that the child won't suffer?

I don't know. I've been brought up to think Abortion is murder. However, at the same time, I RECOGNIZE that all it is is a bunch of stem cells sitting in her uterus.

    I'm kinda on the fence.

Terminal illnesses I understand. But what about cases of rape? Think about how traumatizing it would be for the female to have the baby of the man who raped her?

    That can't be healthy.

    Proof?

Why? you are forced not to kill yourself, but you excuse is... "it is her body. She can do what she wants with it." There are somethings that are morally wrong. If your mom felt that way about abortion you brains would have been sucked out in a tube and you would be currently dead. That embryo was you, you were there. you were growing. you were all there, but you just wernt conscious.

Yes it is. It is just in its early stage. Everything has to start somewhere. A baby starts at conception.

But my mother didn't feel that way and I'm here. Since I'm here there's nothing that can be done besides killing me to get rid of me. Guilt trips don't work here buddy. Also a fetus isn't conscious until birth. They may move and such but they don't think.

Also no it's not living... until it's out of the women/girl it's just more matter than can be disposed of. Not all human life is precious... yes I do mean myself as well.

Murder? Think about what abortion entails. What is destroyed? Can it feel pain? Does it have desires, ambitions? Can it conceive of itself?

Do you have a source for that statistic?

Yeah, every human should get a chance to live. How do you look at a fetus and say "that's a human"?

Yes, and it would be exactly the same effect if his parents did not have sex.

A sperm and egg do not suddenly transform into a baby - they very gradually become one.

Only one or two out of 1000? Please explain.
There are about 100 million women in the United States old enough to be at risk for assault rape. Let’s use a figure of 200,000 forcible rapes every year. The studies available agree that there are no more than two pregnancies per 1,000 assault rapes.
So much for the numbers. Let’s look at it from another angle and see if that figure makes sense.
•Of these 200,000 women who were raped, one-third were either too old or too young to get pregnant. That leaves 133,000 at risk of pregnancy.
•A woman is capable of being fertilized only three days out of her 30-day month. So divide 133,000 by 10, and 13,300 women remain.
•One-fourth of all women in the United States of child-bearing age have been sterilized. That drops the figure to 10,000.
•Only half of the assailants penetrate her body and/or deposit sperm. Cut it in half again. We are own to 5,000.
•Fifteen percent of men are sterile; that drops the figure to 4,250. Fifteen percent of non-surgically sterilized women are naturally sterile. That reduces the number to 3,600.
•Another 15% are on the pill and/or are already pregnant. Now the figure is 3,070. Now factor in something that all adults know. It takes from five to ten months for an average couple to achieve a pregnancy. Using the smaller figure, to be conservative, divide the 3,000 figure by 5, and the number drops to about 600.
