    Military Draft

Why is it a bad thing to run away from something you don't want?

You know what happened in WW1 with soldiers who were drafted?
    And how about WW2?

Ever heard of the mental effects wars have on people?

Do you want this to happen to people, you monster!!

And there are much more psychological illnesses caused by wars.
Not to mention the amount of physical damage caused to soldiers' bodies.

Ha, my instinct doesn't tell me to fight, it tells me to run away as fast as I can.

I am sickened and disgusted by those civilians who value forced military service. These are people who have never been in a war, never seen a battle, never killed a man, never picked up the bloody remnants of dead children, and yet they blindly tell others that that is what they must do. How can they force others to do what they themselves have no experience with?

I think they should have a draft when it is absolutely necessary. I would go if I was drafted and would not run away to mexico or some country. Yeah I would be afraid but I am serving the country I love and fighting for the people and my family and friends.

I shouldn't have to lie to avoid death.

If you want to run off to some foreign country, suit yourself. Why do you think that I should have to, too?

You didn't answer my question. Have you ever been in a war?

I absolutely don't agree with a draft nowadays. You should be able to make the decision if you want to fight for your country. Being forced to join the army tears families apart and kills many people who didn't want to be put into the situation.

Jesus Christ. If your country was invaded you would do nothing?

No I have not. I am Polish though and both my grand fathers where in the resistance. I would gladly join up in an army if my country was invaded.

Hmm, interesting topic. If your country needs a draft to kept itself functioning, then yes, you should be drafted. The obligation of a man to register (in the United States) is done by the Military Selective Service Act. By living in said county and receiving the rights defended by the armed forces, you automatically agree to laws such as the MSSA.

Actually, I would be in full support of a mandatory two-year service to your country for both genders. Now this service wouldn't necessarily be combat-related, just service in general.

    Good, I'm glad you did.

I am afraid of needles, I was scarred for life when I was kid because of them. I haven't gotten a shot/vaccine/immunization in over 5-6 years and won't for the rest of my life.

Also, I do not want to be in this country, but I can't leave yet. So as far as I'm concerned, I don't like being here, they don't want me here, so leave me alone until I can leave.

    But thanks for replying :D

I never said all laws, only those necessary to kept a country functioning.

When engaged in large-scale wars, sometimes a countries' standing army is too small for defense or engagement.

    Your next post -

In certain cases, yes. Although again, if a country such as North Korea invades the United States, we would need every man we could get.

Fighting a war on foreign soil for no cause is me doing my country a service? I honestly think it would only get to that point when there is clearly no need to be involved at all (Vietnam?) Personally if there was a crisis in which we need Americans to stand up and act there would be no problem. Check the mass recruitment after 9\11.

Not to mention that fact that you have to drop everything that is going on in your life to serve.

If I was ever to be drafted I would just move back to my country. I have been in the U.S. for about ten years now and its pretty fun here now and then. Though I have seen what wars can do to people I'm not afraid to be put in but I wouldn't kill someone for no reason if someone in that country has started a war to make a conflict with the U.S. I'm not scared of seeing dead bodies I'm only scared of getting bombed and shot o_0
