    Thoughts on George W. Bush?

    Now that he is out of office and Barack Obama is in office I was wondering what some of the members here reactions were to his terms.

    Here is my nutshell view of him:
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG]

    However, I think that's the misconceived view of George W. Bush. Sure, I don't support the war in Iraq, but what was he supposed to do? America wanted to just swing back from 9\11 after being sucker punched. I really believe that we had good intentions going into the middle-east to try and fix the unrest, but yes ended up creating more. I highly doubt we went in for oil, because well look at gas prices.

    Also, I don't think that all of the mistakes made by America were squarely his fault. The role of the president falls into that awkward position where you either receive all the glory or all the heat, and in this case, all the heat.

    In no way am I saying he was a good president, so don't misconceive that, I'm just defending some of the aspects.

    That should be enough to start a debate. I'll check back later.

    Thoughts on George W. Bush?

    Personally, I think president Bush did an awful job during his time in office. He did nothing but bring our country down, I think people who voted for him should really rethink who they are voting for..

    Yeah, but he sold himself in 2000 effectively, but I don't know what people were thinking in 2004. We just have to see if Obama is great as everyone is preaching about him (I don't believe so).

    Bush was put into situations that he did not know how to handle. I do not feel sorry for him in any way as the presidency is a voluntary position and he CHOSE to become president and take on the responsibility.
    As for those who voted for him, how dare you ask them to reconsider how they vote? One man, one vote, and each person votes for whomever they wish to see in office, who knows what Gore or Kerry would have done?

    Even the shittiest presidents go to commemorate dead soldiers who have died heroic deaths, but not once did he go to a dead soldiers parents and give them his condolences (not that it's worth much, but still).

    The intelligence was manipulated in a deliberate fashion to justify a war in Iraq. It wasn't a knee-jerk reaction.

    A war for oil profits the executives and those who thrust Bush into power - it doesn't necessarily lower the prices for the average American.

    Also, I don't think that all of the mistakes made by America were squarely his fault. The role of the president falls into that awkward position where you either receive all the glory or all the heat, and in this case, all the heat.

    There are many explanations for why he did not attend these commemorations. I'm not defending him, just making sure you aren't jumping to conclusions.

    I understand, you don't have to turn offensive. All I am saying is that people should have known not to vote for him in 2004 after what he did in his first four years in office. He did a lot more negatives than positives for this country.

    Thoughts on George W. Bush?

    I was going to say that also, lol.

    But also people re voted for him in 2004 because they didn't want a new president coming in and taking over the war, they wanted a president who got into it and knew about it to try and finish it. If they didn't re vote him a new president would come in right in the heat of war and would have less knowledge of it.

    You guys are ungrateful, unpatriotic assholes. The only question that should be asked about George Bush's legacy is: great president, or greatest president?

    Thoughts on George W. Bush?

    My thoughts are that the media made him out to be way worse than he really was. They needed someone to blame for the countries downfalls, and why not the president. Honestly Obama isn't going to fix anything.

    He did have the greatest presidential scandal, in my mind, of all time. Manipulating 9/11 for benefit.

    Thoughts on George W. Bush?

    These quotes are all placed out of order, but deal with it. ;)

    Yet again, Shredder succeeds in rationalizing everything. I really agree with the last part where he took the blame of the nation's downfall. I liked how he never went to blame someone (that I know of) and took the blame upon himself.

    Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. I want to feel bad, that he was put into a "damned if you do, damned if you don't situation". But, as you said, he did run for the position and has to live with the criticism.

    I believe it was the U.S.'s meddling with the middle east brought it upon ourselves. I'm not saying Bush didn't do great things, but it was being provoked by Western Democracies. Who is to say what would of happened, but I don't know.

    Unfortunately, that might be true. But honestly, would you want your country running the country? I would rather have a guy who knew what he was doing rather than being my buddy.

    What proof did he have going into Iraq? Weapons of Mass Destruction. That's weak. I just find it odd that nations jump at the chance to get a stake in the middle east, but mass genocides occur in Africa, but no one lifts a finger in governments.

    So now I'm unpatriotic for the fact that I am questioning someone in government. I thought the whole part of being an America was being free to say and think what you wanted.

    I don't know of many presidents that did, but I may be wrong. Plus, with everyone hating Bush, it might just make things worse.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It's interesting to see what people outside of America and England think of him. I thought the response would be worse.
    Thoughts on George W. Bush?
    First of all, more poeple hate Bush, than love him.
    Second, he wasn't a great president, look at the huge debt he left America, look at the amount of deaths that are on his name.
    Third, what the fuck is up with Americans and being "patriotic"? Because you live in a country, doesn't mean you should praise it so damn much. Nationalism isn't wrong, but patriots take it to a completely different level.
    Ofcouse, I am not American, so you can't say shit about me being unpatriotic.
    Thoughts on George W. Bush?
    I don't think all the problems of the US during the term of Bush should be placed solely on him, the man did what was necessary and not to mention prevented a terrorist attack for 7 years or so. Another example which I would like to put forth is Truman, at the end of his presidency he was considered to have done a worse job than Bush supposedly had done. History works in odd ways, in time Truman turned out to be one of the top 10 best presidents the US has ever had. So, I'd rather let history tell the tale rather than myself.
