Recording Software. What should I use?

I've been looking into recording software for a rap I'm writing. I'd then like to sync it to a video for easy posting.

Can anyone help me with the issue? What have you used and where can I get it? Share experiences.

Also, don't move this topic. It's in general discussion so it will be answered.

    Thanks,
    Ethan

Mixcraft 4, easy, awesome effects [[ set it up to make your voice sound like pretty much any singer if you know how ot use it ]] a bunch of great effects and the program can be found for free but you can also download the trial which is free but takes away some features.

Check it out, then my second choice would be audacity its a great easy program too but not as good as mixcraft 4
