I certainly like the idea of interviewing a person before they are made staff.

Actually, it's not that funny. You have a crappy sense of humor.

Please stay on topic, this is not about how active unb4nn3d is nor about Finn/Unb4n relationship is...it is about whether or not we should have interviews..

Never thought I'd hear you say interviews are a waste o_O.

Well I don't particularly support this idea because it's going to be quite difficult to make sure the information and/or experience which they state may not always be valid and that isn't simple to check. I wouldn't totally be against it though, I'd like to hear what some of the moderators have to say.

i think it's a pretty good idea but i think that there should be higher requirements like 1year+ and 1k+ posts because anyone can get 500 posts in one month just spam idk it should kinda dumb but i still agree.

I think it's a great idea because, instead of some team leader just moderating someone because they talk to them on MSN, IRC, ect.. You can get to know them and to see if they match the requirements and qualify as a moderator.

Exactly what I was saying, because admins choose someone for mod yet when they get the job they have no clue what to do etc. which is not helpful for the site, and in extreme cases will abuse their powers.

I would say new mods should have like a 1 week trial period, and at the end of the week, if they have done their job, then they would become a permanent mod.

No offense but this is one of the dumbest suggestions I have ever come accross.

For one, the staff are ALREADY over worked and don't have enough time to catch all the scammers and spammers on sythe. Now you wish to have them busy interviewing every sad sap of a kid who wants to have moderator next to his name?

Secondly, why should people even be allowed to apply for mod. Being a moderator is something which must be determined by your attitude on the forums as well as to the other members. Just because you can act all nicey nice in an interview DOES NOT mean you are good as a moderator. The ONLY thing that can prove you to be a good candidate is how you act when you don't think there is a chance in hell of you getting mod. This shows your true feelings and personality. In short if people could apply for mod then they would put on false faces to attempt to get the positions. Where as having mods simply appointed at random leaves no room for such BULL to occur.

Thirdly besides over working the staff trying to do interviews over and over an interview with someone is pointless. You can learn very little about someones intentions in an interview ESPECIALLY one done over the internet or phone. As I stipulated before the only way is to see how they act over time not how they act in a quick interview.

Beyond that there are many other points that could be made but those are solid enough ones. Mods MUST be appointed not applied for. It's the only way a forum will survive. Plain and simple putting this into effect would be a mistake.

Now as for the shortage of mod activity (which is most likely why you made this suggestion.) you'll notice that there isn't really one, there are a good number of mods who posted in this topic alone. Yes we could use more staff. But yet again staff can only be put into place when there is someone available for the position not before or it will cause more harm than good.

    My 10 cents.

You do realize that the person would be fully aware that they were being watched.

If that was the case then they clearly would act properly until the trial was over.

For one it wouldn't be anyone doing the applications as they are only shown when the person hits 6 months of being on sythe, and 500 posts, thus showing they are active(If they are infracted never ending this should stop the chances) once this happens they can apply for a interview, which if accepted they would have 1 week period to prove they have the experience etc. to do their job correctly, and if the admin's do not like what they are saying, they get rid of them!

It's retarded, then we'd be giving fuckloads of people moderator powers, and esp. since in those 7 days the mod could be really active and then just fuck off. Just let it be the way it is, if they do a bad job they get demoted >_>

There's a reason whenever someone says they want to be mod that they always get a reply that goes along the lines of "Since you asked you'll never be one". Admins and other mods pick who they think is trusted. I mean, if you put an application in, you can just act a certain way aka kiss ass like a bitch, so you can get mod. It's a stupid reason to get chosen for it. Just let them process be the way it is. Does it really matter? Plus, 6 months, 500 posts? Psh. Please. That doesn't mean shit. There's people who've been here that long and no one knows who they are. Look at me. I'm a damn grand master and people don't even know who I am. But whatever, do no support. Plus bumping is lame.

False. It would be nice if you actually knew what you were talking about. Unb3nn3d is way more active than any other ranked person on sythe.

He puts his life into it and deserves full credit

I don't like the idea of applications neccessarily but interviewing in a sense should be mandatory. It would be nice to have market mods experienced in the market, rs mods experienced in rs (including cheating), etc.

Our current mods do great for the most part. I just believe there should be more involved
