Should children have cell phones?

Yes, Back In Japan and Korea, even 10 Year olds have cellphones.
and Im not talking about a few 10 year olds, Im talking about majority.

 

Yes, as long they are mature enough.

 

We should get rid of everything electronic, for risk of cancer then.

Along with everything fatty, as it can cause heart attacks.

Along with tobacco and alcohol.

Along with everything that can kill a person.

And what i meant is that it doesn't effect you if my child has a cell phone.

 

I am twelve(har-har) and I pay for my own, it's the only way. I use it when i can't use the house phone or for business-related calls. It just depends what kind of person it is and under what conditions.

 

I don't own a cell phone. A responsible parent would take whatever steps necessary to ensure that their child doesn't waste their lives texting friends. Aside from that, I don't see anything wrong with a child owning one.

As for health effects, there are a whole range of issues, but they don't appear to be very significant.

Just for your information, not everything electronic gives off radio waves which are shown to be a cause of cancer. In fact, the majority of electronics don't.

Theres a huge difference between a 13 year old and an 18 so lets go with 13.

Clearly, you did not read the link I gave you. It is not /everything electronic/, It is the radiation that the cell phone emits into your body, which is hazardous. Although, it is low radiation, studies have shown over time it can accumulate, greatly.

Hence, cellphones being dangerous.

I think anybody over the age of 13 should be allowed a cell phone.

 

i agree that kids should have phones but two downsides

giving a kid a phone opens up a new world of bullying - cyber bullying

giving a kid a phone can be an easy way to get footage of fights and porn through a network of there freinds

It depends on the situation. If it's a child whose parents are divorced and he/she needs a way to contact their parent, then yes, but if it's just for the child to chat with friends and text, then no.

 

It's the parent's choice. I'm fine with them having cell phones, as long as there's limits. At the very least, they should have a pay-as-you-go phone that's only used for emergencies. Never know when you'll need it.

I voted no because... Cell Phones are to much. If you grow up on something your going to feed off it. I'm living proof, computer and video games. But I didn't get a Cell Phone and I'm not so dependent on it compared to others I know.

By kids so young living off it they abuse it. There is something I do think is fine, I saw an ad somewhere that was a cell phone that can only have 4 numbers programed into it at one time, and can only call those 4 numbers.

1 - Mom
2 - Dad
3 - Home
4 - Misc.

Perfect and that's something I think that all kids need is 4 numbers.
