Like some other's, I would half agree the agreeing half being that it is wrong there's the kind of people out there who you do not want knowing your personal information but on the half that I don't agree would be they scam they can deal with there shit.

I got told a few days ago by someone that your not even allowed to ring people, as I said that I would ring the person who I was dealing with to make sure that I'm legit and he said no that's against sythe's rules. Whether it is or not idk, sorry for going off-topic a little there.

Same applies to the one who got scammed. If your stupid enough to get scammed then how does that give you the right to post his I.P.

I disagree since privacy is important. It shouldn't even be allowed for the safety of members. I'm sure there're better ways to protect against scammers. What is Official MM for anyway?

People can give out whatever info about THEMSELVES they want.
And an Email isn't personal info.

Then you should put your ignorance in the rules.

When he posted that shit, i sat back and said to myself..really? Is that really necessary? What if someone just gets your information and posts it, is it still wrong?

Shit, I hate you with a passion.

I never said "If someone gets your information and posts it, that's fine.". I said if they break our rules, which in this case is scamming (As stated in the first post), I have no problem posting their IP or whatever else I have about them. They shouldn't of scammed.

Someone scammed, so what? No need to put a (most likely) child's address, IP or other personal info on the net.

Exactly. It's simple to avoid, just don't scam. I don't see why any of you should have a problem with that.

    Posting of Personal information.

Ah, you're a bit wrong sir. As are you Viper.

The thing is, your view point does not protect this website.

Point and fact, the posting of another person's information (credit card, name, address, etc) is a violation of multiple laws in multiple countries around the world. Courts will not care if this person stole your RuneScape gold, nor will they care if they stole your money, it is ILLEGAL to post private information of another person on your web site, only a few web hosts allow this, and they're growing thin.

    Few things to consider:

    1. Even if they did scam, you have to file a claim against them. Just because they broke your rules does not mean you have the right to their personal information. You must follow procedure in this, and you cannot just do whatever it is you want. Scammer or not, that information is private information.

    2. EVEN IF the information can be found throughout the web, on Google, and the like, your copying and posting of it onto this web host is in violation of several regulations, terms of service, and privacy policies. Scammer or not, that information is private information, you have no right to it, and as such, you should leave it on the websites where its at. If you want, you can link to it, but you cannot copy the information for its listing on this website.

    3. Lets say a scammer finds his information on this website. If he files a claim against Sythe, he will win. Sythe can, of course, file a counter claim, but such expense as to just removing the information is unnecessary. The fact of the matter is, Richard would NOT win in a battle of court like this. Private information on his host, vs. scamming in a game. The fact of the matter is, Sythe doesn't own any rights to the scammed item, therefore, he cannot file a claim for it. Pure and simple. The owner of the content (Jagex, or if it's real money, the person who was scammed), has to file the claim.

    4. Come on, seriously? Just because they scammed does not mean they should be put under such scrutiny. It IS an all time low, but it is not your right to hand out such punishments, nor do you have the right to do so. If he posts his information, that's all on him, let it be, but no one here is allowed to do so. And if someone felt the urge to contact Sythe's ISP, this server could be shut down for the tracking being done against Sigex. Hacking games is against ToS, hacking people is against the law.

Now I have every respect for you Ryan, but that's just wrong.

Also, Magic, an email address is not private. Sorry dude, that's wrong. You own no right to that email address, nor anything on the internet (except of course funds or such in which you're protected by any form of copyright).

Email address' are owned by the provider of the email address. If it's your own domain, then you own the email address, to a certain degree.

Even if they are scammers, again, you have no right to do this.
