13 Year-Old-Girl Strip Searched

that's insane...even if they're tight about drugs. She's only 13, jesus.

First of all just because she is 13 does not mean she does not take drugs. The school has a right to search anything they want that is on the property. If they want the can search your car if they are parked on the their parking lot. At my school they sometimes do random metal detector search and they look down the school to do drug searches where they bring in dogs to search. They are looking for drugs so they should be able to search. They should also call the police over to monitor it.

For gods sake you cant 'deal' ibuprofen.Its a legal drug and has purely medicinal properties.Those members of the police force should be arrested for sexual abuse,what they did was absolutely disgusting.

I think that was absolutely unnecessary to do that, because they invaded her privacy and made her look like a fool and like others said she is only 13...

I say this is ridiculous. The fact that the Principal allowed this to happen/helped it happen should make them liable for mollestation-SP?- It's Ibuprofin, not marijuanna, crack, heroin, or anything else that could jeprodize someones life, and the fact they took someone's word that was breaking the rules, I'd assume they would be like "Oh jesus, I'm in deep shit. I better blame someone else!"

It's horrible. If the schools aren't found guilty, I'd be pissed.

 

This is going to be one of those story's that the court doesn't charge the school's anything, and then the dad will take it into his own hands and end's up going to jail for killing someone...

 

Exactly. I am guessing the court's ruling will be something like local parentus-I forget what it's called, it's basically at home/all places that are NOT school, the parents act as the guardians, but AT school, the staff can act as the guardians/can search freely. It's happened before with some girl, she had cigaretes visable in her purse, and than they just thought "Hmm, we can search her whole purse" and ended up finding Marijuana, rolling paper, and a lot of low bills. She was charged with like selling illegal drugs, and than she sued saying they did not have the rights to search her without a warrant. She lost.

 

For those saying "She's only 13!" would you consider this scenario?

Toddlers are sometimes used to smuggle drugs across the border. Just because they're toddlers, does that mean they shouldn't be searched?

Similarly, if security received word that someone (even a toddler) was carrying a bomb, do you think they would just laugh it off?

Now apply this situation to a school yard with drugs - That girl is THIRTEEN, she would be at the age to understand all of what is going on. The school administration received words that she was carrying drugs prohibited at the school, therefore they were within reason to search her. What if she did have the drugs? What would you think of the situation then?

I will also note this, as many people don't seem to realize that a strip search is only down to your underwear. Now, I don't know about you, but when I was thirteen I had swimming lessons for P.E. I had to get changed, and that involved taking off clothes to change in to other ones, yet should I have found that embarrassing? Not at all. The girl was under similar circumstances - having to go down to her underwear - and yet there were two women performing a search and not an entire locker room full of teens who had just hit puberty causing trouble left right and center.

Excuse me if I think this is really a ridiculous cause for concern, but it really is quite stupid.

 

Heres the thing, once they had her contained, and were watching her, there was no threat. They could have called the police/her parents to sort this out, she would probably be more comfortable that way. Seriously, when she is contained, and being watched, what could she do with them? Swallow them all, without anyone noticing? Shove them inside one of her cavities, such as people in prison do with forks/knives? No, she was being monitored. The way the conducted it was sloppy, which is probably what people are so fussed about. Could have been fixed, simply.

 

So, is anyone going to tell me why this is such a cause for concern? I'm not disagreeing with what you said, but I honestly see no problem with the present outcome.

 

Easy. White girl + pedophiles/molestation=HUGE deal for all press. It always has been. If you take it in a negative way, and not in the way of getting a drug dealer out, than it can easy be seen from a negative point of view. Most people will see it like the majority of the people on this thread, as a molestation/etc. It just comes down to the point of view you're looking at it in. In the news, they use everything as a negative propaganda, like oh noez! she g0tz rap3d! when honestly, it should be "Brave school principal makes a risky choice to uphold their zero-tolerence policy."

Go figure.

 

So in other words, most of the people here are suckers for the media. Makes sense.
