Perhaps, Or they are like 90% of other school administrator's/teachers, and they where just power hungry, and decided to find someone who they thought deserved being tortured.

Exactly, they don't have a right to STRIP search a 13-year-old girl because of another student's accusation.

 

I don't honestly see why this is a big deal.

So what? A girl got searched for painkillers? Lawfully she would have been informed what was going on, and thus there isn't much of a problem with it.

Lilly, may I ask why you care? From a moral perspective? Even though it doesn't apply to you?

 

Because I can care, and NO one, no matter what gender they are should have to go through the embarrassment of getting strip searched at the age of 13 for being falsely accused of something as simple as painkillers.

 

How is being strip searched an embarrassment, it wasn't a public display. Personally, I agree with Swan, why are you so obsessed with the legal act of a strip search with right assessment and proper accusations. How were they to know she didn't have them? They had been informed and with proper suspicion, under the law, they have the right to take the necessary procedures to search the young woman.

There isn't a specified level of maturity which allows a human to find this as an atrocity. This is more of a personal matter, which is synthesized on your viewpoints and your thought process. The thought process, which in this case, seemed to be working fine. Maturity and this event have no correlation whatsoever. The girl had contraband in her possession, ibuprofen, therefor warranting her searching. Maybe strip searching her was a bit extreme, but it wasn't in violation nor was it unwarranted. It's not a tragedy because this event wasn't necessarily a disastrous event. You've opened a post in the SFA forum, what did you expect to get 80 posts of people who agree with you. This is an an area for debate and by you stating to me that you won't "waste" your time, shows me that you more or less wanted to just state an occurrence in the news. I have no problem with you caring, just from my perspective, proper protocol was followed.

PLEASE, PLEASE show me, where PROTOCOL says to strip a 13 year old because of what ONE other student says.

 

Say you go to an airport and inform security that some random is carrying a bomb ...

 

she was asked to stip to her underwear, then the nurse or other woman lifted her bra to check. my guess is that took a couple of seconds... and the whole process a couple of minutes.

not all 13 year olds are sweet little girls, there are 13 year olds that carry guns and sell drugs.

also mixing some pain killers (not ibuprofen) with other drugs can make pretty powerfull drugs. they can also sell for +$100 ea, and used as a substitute for heroin.

i know its still a stupid reason to be striped serched. they should have waited for parents. - getting police dogs would of been worse imo.

 

Why should they have waited for her parents? That would have made the entire process longer.

 

legal reasons for one. also better for girl, more ethical.

Zero tolerance for Ibuprofen?? its a fucking useless pill that does shit for a pain reliever it isnt even abusable.Still even if she was in posession of other things i still would say they have no right to strip search her since shes not even a minor let alone over 18 yet.
..a pat down would be fine but a strip search is a total violation im not sure about arizona laws but in california the school would get sued to poor bastards since the subject was under 18..

I would agree with the people who argued for this strip-search if she wasn't forced to be naked. Stripping to underwear in the company of fellow females isn't really traumatizing, but the fact that she was forced to remove her bra and panties illegitimates the actions of the school nurse and Wilson's assistant. That is not okay.
