Why do you play video games?

Its pixels, all pixels but whats stopping you.

Is it the fun?
Social?
Nothing else to do?

Because when you look back you might say to your self "Wow, i wasted my childhood playing a game that no longer exists" or you might say "i really had a fun childhood playing this game"

I just thinks its funny how people get soo addicted to these games(ex.runescape,worldofwarcraft)

This is coming from the person with WorldOfWarcraft in his signature, and your talking about people being addicted? Not everyone on sythe is here for Runescape or WoW, or any game at that. Those who spend their; 24/7's on the computer, or another game system, playing a meaningless game doesn't have to mean that they are wasting their life away, do I think they are? Yes, they are wasting their life away. But... They are enjoying what they like to do. You shouldn't try to stop someone from trying to do what they enjoy for the time being, its a phase for most's life, they will eventually grow out of it. Let them do what they wish to do while their young, their living their life and if their having fun doing it, so be it.

 

There is no differences in the "real world", you can also hang-out with friends, who in-turn die soon and seems to you their existence was without meaning.

But to answer your question, I usually play games because I don't have anything better to do, or as an escape from "the real world"

 

Depends really,
I play games for many reasons.
To take out my anger,
for fun.
Personally they relieve stress, and emotional problems I may have.
I suggest Halo 3, or Gears

It's an impeccable way to get destressed after school and work. The time I spend playing games on the my computer is generally the time I would've wasted watching tv or something similar, so why not?

Nothing else to do, and some good friends that live back in other places that i've lived play so we can all get together and play.

 

Its fun and keeps you from getting bored. You'll also be dull without games.

 

MOST of the people HAVE played runescape here though. And i just recently SWITCHED to WoW because iv been playing runescape for years many accounts and i know the game 99% and it just got boring...

I play games when I am bored or just to kill time. I play FPS games as a stress reliever, for example Left 4 Dead. Great game, no story. Just shoot away at zombies.

 

Nothing else to do, if I'm bored and there is no one to hang out with or anything like that, I play runescape.

Some people read, some people watch TV, some people play other games etc. But I play runescape, no big deal.

 

I don't anymore, the only game I play is Cod and Halo, sometimes Mirror's Edge if I'm bored. But the only reason I play is because I have a little bit of free time, and what not a better way to waste time then to beat Halo on legendary.

 

I play Halo3 and COD5 because I enjoy the excitement of working with people to tactically kill other people. Sick as it sounds, it is what many humans, including myself enjoy. I used to play runescape due to the thrill of constantly being able to advance a human, but now I find it boring seeing numbers on a screen.

 

Rather do it instead of watching tv or something else thats not worthwhile.

 

When all my friends are too busy to do something I just play World of Warcraft or Xbox live.

 

I have nothing to do. When my friends are not available, I play games.
I prefer wasting my time on games than smoking weed behind a Wal-Mart.

 

When I first played RS I was definitely addicted for a few years. I've finally taken advantage of it monetarily, thanks to Sythe.

That's why I *play*.

 

Same, i first played rs got addicted for a couple years went to private servers then to WoW then back to Runescape then Pservers then Runescape now WoW(prob staying for awhile since friend plays)

I play when I have nothing else to do.
I play 'cause my friends play, A.K.A. social life.
But best of all; because I like it.
