Legalize Marijuana?

although im a pot smoker myslelf why in the heck would i want to pay taxes on my weed...i get it fine as it is no probs from the pigs so i would say against.

DAYUM! It's been like 12 hours for me! And like 2 hours since I had a cigg. Cigg's are way more addicting though. And a few extra bucks for taxes would be awesome, it's like paying the cops to leave you the fuck alone.

Some drugs are okay in moderation, along with drinking and smoking...

I'm for and against.

I'm for because it would definitely cut down on the crime rate. That's the only reason i'm for.

I'm against for many reasons. One reason is because, think about people smoking Marijuana in public places. That's me, against the influence, getting high when I don't want to.

I really wanted to say: "Well what if people are high and driving around" but now that I think about it, that's the same as a Drunk driving.

So, I really wouldn't mind if it was legalized as long as people weren't allowed to smoke it in public places.

this is because it can not do virtually any physical harm (unless you smoke it with tobacco ofcourse)
the 'high' feeling is a good thing, for most people it relaxes them or makes them laugh...i don't understand how this could harm other people in any way.

Marijuana should be legalized. If you do not smoke why make others live the same way you do? Let people live the way they want to.

I am kind of half and half on the topic as well though. Yes, it is a non habit forming drug, but the first drug any heroine, cocaine, etc. addict experienced was marijuana. Maybe there are so many dealers and "pot heads" because it is in fact illegal. How much alcohol was sold during prohibition? I think the government should take advantage of this situation and tax the shit out of it. Focus more on bigger issues; murders, rapists the things that matter besides some teenagers that are selling marijuana.

 

I don't mean to double post but, many children in Italy grow up drinking small amounts of red wine, etc. at dinner time their whole lives. These kids grow up to mainly never be alcoholic drunks.

Compare that to children in the U.S. drinking on weekends, I believe, because they are not supposed to.

Maybe this can be the issue with legalized marijuana? idk kind of rambling.

 

I'm for it, I smoke weed alot, and I find myself always looking for the cops around, it sure would be nice to be able to buy different types of weed from stores as well.

 

This is completely opinionated, but the way I feel is. Marijuana is taught at a young age to be something horrible, something that will ruin your life. When in reality, it's not near to as bad as people portray it. Kids, or teens figure: "Hey, they told me this would ruin my life, and I'm doing fine, maybe the other drugs that they said were worse." Then thereon go to harder drugs, which I do see as a threat.

If they just legalized marijuana, said it was bad, but it is their choice as it will not kill them, perhaps more kids would actually heed the warnings of these harder drugs. It is easy enough to access now, if they made it legal it may even diminish marijuana use as they would tax it and make it cost a lot. Also, it would lower crime (No, I don't mean just lower crime because making less laws always lowers crime because there are less crimes.. Trust me, that made perfect sense >.<) I believe through the same effect that would make people try harder drugs because it was not that bad, people would also try bigger crimes. Also, many of the murders that occur every day are over drugs.

Edit: Upon reading the thread, I also agree with what Tradd said, there should be restrictions just like the ones alcohol have, perhaps an age, can't drive, none in public. There is a time and place for everything, people will still be uneasy about it after it's a law and not want to see it done in public. Would kids take up the smoking of tobacco if upon growing up they didn't see hundreds of people smoking it?

Note: I'm not saying I'm perfectly unbiased, but I don't even smoke marijuana.

Alright Well people say oh its a plant its not bad for u. YES THE PLANT IS NOT BAD FOR YOU. so if you buy regs. ok its not bad. but if ur going to buy actual bud (dro, haze, cush, piff) its the plant combined with chemicals and other shit. and yes the actual LIGHTING of the plant and the smoke in your lungs does give u cancer.

But the fact that it is illegal makes people want to do it more. so it could either go both ways. good or bad. If pot was legal it would make tons of americans completly broke and lazy. So it would probly have more of a negative side effect on people
