MageBhoy07's Barrows guide!

Hey guys my second guide. It's barrows guide so I hope you enjoy please comment any question asked will be answered.

Introduction to Barrows

Barrows is not a safe minigame. This means that if you die you will not keep your items. I reccomend before you attempt barrows you have at least 60+ Magic, 43+ Prayer, 65+ Range, 55+ Slayer (if using Slayer Dart) and 70+ Str. Some of the Barrow Brothers can hit very high. So be Warned.

What should I wear?

I will be talking about maging the 4 melee brothers in this guide here so here's a picture of a good armour set up.

Rich Option:



Not bad Money option:



Poor option: (Just using the same inventory as above)

Obviously if you'll be using Fire blast or any other spell, just take the staff and runes for spell.

The Route

I have recently found that the quest which allows you to go on the boat In Aid of the Myreque I think it's called isn't needed for the boat =).




Barrows

At Barrows there are six hills which when you dig into leads you into a tunnel.

The six Brothers are called "Ahrim, Dharok, Verac, Guthan, Karil and Torag" You can do these in any order I prefer to do the melee brothers first. The melee brothers are Dharok, Verac, Torag and Verac. Karil uses a ranged attack and Ahrim using magic attack.





Killing the Brothers

When Killing the Melee Brothers obviously you will protect from Melee, however Verac hits through prayer so always eat aswell. When your prayer is low just repot. On some of the melee brothers if you have at least 60 defence like Torag, when your prayer runs out he hardly hits you. When Killing Karil and Ahrim you can choose to pray or not. You can either kill them with Range or Melee.

You will only get 5 kill count and one of the Coffins will say "You have found a hidden Tunnel, would you like to enter?" Only press yes when you have 5 kill count.

The Tunnel




The tunnel is perhaps the hardest part of Barrows. When you have not much Prayer left and hardly any Potions. I hate having Dharok as my Brother in Tunnel because you have to have melee for pray on all the time because he can 1 hit you. When you go through the doors and find your brother put prayer on and kill him lol. When you get to the puzzle doors you have to answer them correctly to get into the chest room.

Answers:



When you get into the chest room this is where you get your reward. You simply open the chest and search it for your reward. Sometimes you get runes and Bolt racks. Some times you get a Barrows Item. The Dharok's Helmet is the most expensive part of Barrows armour as of today December 1st 2008 so good luck!

Do you know of any other methods besides maging them? I would imagine it would be pretty expensive...

 

lol the way i did it was fire wave, and just full inventory of prayer pots lol. could last for like 10 rounds in a row.

 

id add in more about techniques of killing the brothers.

Very Usefull Guide Freinds Needed This Helped Em Out A++

 

really no need for mage robes as it doesnt help much. Wear torags or veracs. Something that has high def and gives prayer bonus since you dont splash much even with -100+ mage bonus. if you wear hig hgear like torags you wont have to pray on guthans torags or veracs but for veracs you will have to eat

 

This is better than alot of guides that i have seenI will definitely use this next time i do barrows

 

I'd say this guide is about a 6/10 here's why.

First, there should be a bit more comment about each of the brothers - its more than just pray and slay except for Verac who hits through prayer. For example, Ahrim can lower combat stats, so lower level barrowers might need to consider that before they get into the maze. Also, Karil can decrease your agility - so your run energy takes longer to recover. This might also make a difference if you are low in the maze.

Second, there's only cursory explanation as to equipment choices. Perhaps, a bit more as to gear.

Third, there should also be more about kill count. There is alot of anecdotal evidence suggesting that a certain number is optimal. Although not verified, this type of information should be included in a guide.

Finally, some discussion of drops would be good also. Something about how each of the brothers you killed previously dropping something and kill count's relationship to drops.

 

Firstly thanks for the post.

There is no "hard evidence that the more kill count the better you will get a drop as I have tried this around 50 times with 15 kc.

As for saying drops, People know all about the drops.. Unless I am mistaken every member and/or free player knows that in Barrows you get a Barrows item if your lucky.

There is a thing called potions. In my guide there is advice to take precautionary potions incase.

So. me 1 you 0

 

I was trying to offer you some constructive criticism so you would have a more useful guide, unfortunately you are too thin skinned to see that.

Instead I could have said you just cut and pasted information already all over the internet and posted nothing new or useful and far worse than other guides already everywhere and more easily found.

So maybe just maybe your energies for your guide would be better served if you did more than just cut and paste, or try to keep score, and actually posted something useful.

Try adding some of the actual mechanics like I posted above.

Finally, as to "a thing called potions. In my guide there is advice to take precautionary potions incase," your set-up is full there's no room for your "precautionary" potions because you wasted space with a slayer dart set up and having to carry all three kinds of armor. Instead, get rid of the runes associated with teleports you already are wearing a 1 click tele item - the amulet of glory.

So. you - 0 your guide - 6/10 (despite the cut and paste) me - knowledge

 

One more thing, as to barrows drops - I'm not talking about getting lucky and getting a drop. Useful things like what kill count affects - runes, bolts, etc. Since the brothers pertain to the actual barrows items.
