Oooh! Ooh! Tell me another story! :D

I really only believe the point of existing is to exist for yourself. In my case, my life is MY life, hence I work for myself, I earn money for myself, and I tend not to give two shits about the next person (unless I know them well, they are comrades or they are of use).

    Single-minded self-centered view, I know.

I don't believe there is an objective meaning to life, because I believe we are nothing but the product of billions of years of genetic mutations started from a single-celled organism, which ultimately derived from the dust of an exploding supernova. Basically, our lifes are as significant as the life of a common house fly. This doesn't mean we can't live long and happy lifes though, you can still set and intersubjective goal with your life and live it the way you want to. (e.g sports, musician, love life, family, etc)

    The Meaning of Life

How about we cut the scientific "life came before meaning" bullshit and actually discuss what each of us believes. Meaning has been defined by humans, but that does not necessarily mean that if you take away humans meaning is void. The strange thing is that you are irrefutably incorrect. Life requires purpose, purpose does not require life. Without purpose, life could not exist. Without purpose, the very first generation of any species would simply die of starvation as they had no purpose. They would have no reason to live, even if they did not know that was why they would inevitably die.

Existence is not an absolute; if you remove life existence is hence removed. Existence does not require any justification, but then again nothing does. It is just human nature to speculate and uncover whatever is revealed as an open possibility to them. The fact that when you throw something up and it comes down (gravity), requires no justification, yet we did justify it nonetheless.

When you state the meaning of life is to live, and the purpose of existence is to exist, then that is simply equating that we exist to exist, which is not an answer at all. "A car is a car." Thumbs up for telling me that.

The meaning of your life is only defined by your actions and is only complete when your life has ended. The same exists for your purpose.

Since the meaning of life is only defined by your actions, your actions may affect another's purpose and vice versa. If a boy in Africa tossed a stone in the air, it could inadvertently lead to you making a different decision, thus affecting your life.

In closing, life requires purpose but purpose also requires life. The two cannot exist without one another and never once appear without each other. Existence is different than life, and there is no purpose to existence that is known or ever will be known. Life is entirely separate and requires purpose to direct it. Scientifically, your purpose is to live and grow to the size of a healthy breeding species, reproduce, and die. That is all. If viewing your existence in such a way comforts you, then that is fine. Generally this description only applies to species that are not sentient. Since humans are sentient, your life may encompass a broader purpose from a moral perspective, rather than just saying my purpose is to live.

There is no purpose to life, we were put here, we were made from scratch, we didn't put any consent into existance therefore, no purpose.

Death, is as you say sythe, non-existance. We had no thought, or ANYTHING before we were born, therefore, why should we exist after we die?

I liked this topic, thanks for shareing.

The meaning of life can change from person, like sythe he believes that there is no meaning to life. Except if I were to go to a charity worker their answer would probably be to help the community as a whole. So there can not be one answer to the meaning of life.

    The Meaning of Life

The meaning of life would revolve around the meaning of ones life, seeing as the question is one that would be answered in opinion. This is because not everyone believes the same thing.

Now, according to you, "meaning of life" = "purpose of existence". Since this is a question that can only be answered with an opinion, it would be, "purpose of my existence".

It's my life, somewhat, so it would be whatever I chose to do for the rest of my life. My action and the reason for my action. Thus, my purpose.

So, basically, the purpose of my existence is what I choose it to me, simply because it's the answer to the action.

There is a meaning of life.

The meaning of life is what you make it to be.

    Religion, etc.

    The Meaning of Life

Having no reason to live but act accordingly to your survival instincts are not necessarily interdependent. Take the life of a bacteria; what is its purpose? Does it have any, other than to be eliminated by someone or somethings immunity system? No. It has no objective goal, and neither do humans.

Existence is indeed an absolute; the first law of thermodynamics seems to disagree with you here. There is no apparent connection between our ability to think as individuals and use of our imagination to a meaning with life.

False dichotomy. The Sun seems to have a purpose, but no life. Bacteria seems to have no purpose, but requires life.

You basically repeated 5 and 6... same reason but their both wrong.

God cannot change the future without first knowing what he will change?
So your saying he's not all knowing.

But god is ALL knowing, there is a reason we say that because he knows everything, he doesn't need to think he's not a human being who thinks before he does something. If god wants to change the future, he doesn't have to know what to change before he changes it he already knows, he doesn't think...

your just confusing yourself not anyone else, don't even try it.

lol? bacteria does have a purpose, you think all bacteria is bad? And even if its bad it still has a purpose.... But there is also good bacteria, so what are you about?

Depends how YOU define meaning. Technically life does have meaning; to exist. However, ultimately we're just dust blown together in such a way as to create thought. Thinking in universal (as in literally universe) we're nothing, meaningless to the ultimate nothingness of reality.

I'm not sure why I live, sometimes I wish I didn't. But when I think about not living, just think. What if there isn't a heaven and there's like nothing when you die. What would happen. So confusing :x

The meaning of life to me is to enjoy it, however you find it enjoyable.

Good/bad is irrelevant and argumentative. And what do you assert the meaning with the life of one single bacteria is?

If a bacteria needs to do something, then it has a purpose.

If you are an aithiest.. like shredder said "there is no point to life. It was accidental." our urpose would be to live then die.

If you are religous you will believe in your god and believe in intelligent design. You will live on this earth and try to bring people into your religion.
