Paid Moderators

I understand "more moderators" is on the do not suggest list but this suggestion does not ask for more, but simply some current ones to be "paid" moderators.

Basically, a paid moderator would have an assigned amount of tasks to do in order to get paid. Since moderators currently do not have set duties, I have seen that the dispute, and the report a scammer/spammer forums have built up. This would encourage moderators to take care of all disputes and reports rather than doing nothing.

The best way this would work out would be commission. In real life salespersons get paid an extra amount of salary based on a percent of their sales. Well, moderators could be paid a set amount of money for every dispute, and report they take care of.

An example would be 25 cents for every Dispute, 15 cents per scam report and 5 cents per spam report. (Can be higher or lower)

The money could come out of ad and/or donation funding.

I think the ones we have now need to do a little better job with the scammers section, but being paid might be over the top, even tho I believe sythes owner does probably make decent cash with ads on the site.

As much as I'd love to get paid, it won't happen.

We're supposedly content with the title we've been given, and since we're doing it for free currently, the future moderators will most likely do it for free as well.

 

Why pay people when they're willing to work for free?

 

I think that the Moderator are happy the way it is now.

 

People tend to do better work when they're paid for it, it's somewhat a motivator.

Well, if getting 'paid' is a motivator; then what kept them motivated, the time they were earning up to their mod position? No pay, is needed.

Anyways, Sythe wants to make money. Not lose money. I say no. I'm sure the mods would like it but 'Richard' would disagree.

 

Whats Their Motivation?
Why should they any? I'm Sure Sythe himself chooses intelligent beings to watch over this site. I'm Pretty sure they do not need something to motivate them to do what they volunteered for.

Sythe Staff works for free because they want to. And you know whats stopping them for procrastinating? Getting fired.

 

I have to somewhat agree. It would modvate them more, and the scammer section is not getting delt with. I think we need 5-8 specific moderators just on the scammer report. Would help and improve a lot. Maybe it could be paid like this.

1 dispute taken care of = 5 cents
a Extra deal if they do 30 disputes in a day like = $5

I believe this can happen, because sythe the owner, receives a ton of money each month off ad revenue.

 

Moderators can easily get paid just by being an mm and that comes from the two traders. There are currently 2102 disputes in the archives and still in play. If the site paid moderators 25 cents a dispute the site would've owed its moderators $525. Or how about the combined scam/spam reports? If this was started with the site the 30,000 reports combined at 5 cents a piece would end up costing $1500. In one month the amount of reports/disputes would over budget the donations atleast 10x

Sythe doesn't use most of the money on this site whats left over after server costs is part of his income.

He does make decent cash and I'm not saying payed thousands a month, just enough to motivate them to do more work.

But most moderators do a poor job or don't find enough time to really keep up with the reports.

They are intelligent but they have recently been slacking off. Go look at how much the "work" has built up.

Either pay the current ones or double the staff number.

They can get paid from MM'ing but that cuts out their duty to take care of disputes and reports. $1500+$525 from threads that have built up. If they are taken care up in an orderly manner it would be much less every month, and my pricing was just an example. The website revenue is over $1000-1500 a month.

/agree, i tend to think if there getting payed they would not want to risk loosing it.....so more trust worthy mods.

 

First of All. It is Your fault if you got scammed. Sythe in No ways promotes runescape black market trading. Understand the Stickies "All Runescape Accounts can be recovered". Also understand that Money sent via paypal can also easily be recovered. Even if You file a Claim, some people are smart enough to know what to write to make paypal deny your claim.

 

I think this is a huge fail. beacuse the moderators wants it theireselves..

Someone was saying there are a lot of reports. I Was just saying its Their fault.

 

So it's their fault they report scammers? How about spam reports? Disputes?
