Section 1 : About Binds
Binds are giving a keyboard key, the ability to do a task whenever that key is pressed. An example of that would be in Counter-Strike: Source, if you leave settings at default, when you hit "W" you will move forward. In this guide I will be teaching you some other binds you can use to get tasks done faster then usual, also giving you the ability to do multiple tasks with the pressing of one key.

Section 2 : About other important commands
In Counter-Strike:Source there are some "important commands" you can use that will help improve the way you play. These commands can be changed at anytime, but the majority of the time they will be left at one setting. I will be teaching you some of these commands, and the effect it will have on your game play. I will also tell you the commands which I use to get the best advantage I can get.

Section 3 : How to Enable "Console"
To be able to apply any of these commands I will be teaching you, you will need to be able to type these commands into a Command Box called the "console". To Enable the console first launch Counter-Strike:Source. Click "Options", then click the "keyboard" tab. On the bottom you should see a button that says "Advanced", click that and make sure "Enable Developer Console" is checked in. Now hit apply and you should be up and running. Now just click the (~) symbol on your keyboard, and the Console should open. This is where you will be typing all of your commands.

Section 4 : Game Improvement commands
There are ways to improve your game play so that it is more customized to how you want to play. There are some really important commands you should know if you ever want to join a league. To enter a command just type it into console and hit enter.
In leagues you will need these 3 commands(all must be typed separately then just hit enter after each).

These commands will make your game run smoother on a "100 Tick" Server.


Another command is changing your cross-hair's size. Using this command you can make your cross-hair small or bigger then the Default Cross-hairs.


These two numbers are the range of the cross-hair size."0" being no cross-hair and "4500" being a tiny dot. You can figure out what you would like your cross-hair size to be by trying numbers in between those.

Section 5 : Buying Binds
These bind are used to buy certain weapons buy just hitting one key. The format this bind will look like is this :



Also note the spaces between the words.

The word KEY may be filled in with any letter or number on your keyboard.

The word weapon maybe be filled in with the following weapons/equipment:

Section 6 : Talk Binds
"Talk binds" enable you to say a phrase or anything, by just hitting one letter or number. This is the format you will be putting this bind into.



You fill in the letter/number you want where it says Key.

You fill in the phrase, Want to knife?, with whatever you would like it to say when you hit that key.

Section 7 : Conclusion
Binds are a great way to get a lot done in a short amount of time, especially if doing that one thing is a habit of yours. My favorite bind is

Bind "," "cl_crosshairscale 4500"
Bind "." "cl_crosshairscale 2000"

Using these binds I can make my cross-hair bigger and smaller by hitting "." and ","

I do not think you need quotes around the things because you do not need them in GMOD, but CSS may be different.

You need to explain what each command does, and the difference between ones that must be used on the server and ones that you can use on the client.

 

In some casses you do not need the quotes...but in others it will not work if you do not have the quotes...So Its just You rather be safe then sorry and just take the time to add the quotes.

Quotes just seperate the command from the key it is being binded to

 

well basically quote means "this whole thing inside" for example if you
bind k say lol? the computer will think it as bind k say
but if you do
bind k "say lol?" it would actually say lol?

 

Yes if you play counterstrike and try to bind a multiple word phrase to a key it will say invalid or it will say how to enter a bind. Gmod is different.
