    Where do ideas come from?

Pretty straight-forward question, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

    Where do ideas come from?

Ideas can come from pretty much anywhere including, friends, work, failure, fear, frustration, your kids, or a complete stranger. You can walk on the street one day, and you see something, and you have an idea. As simple as that.

    Where do ideas come from?

You guys are missing it. HOW do you get an idea is what I'm asking I guess. There is no chemical/system set in place for this to be possible. You're basically performing magic and pulling a new thought out of thin air. Think about it. Was this thought always in your brain before you "created" it? If I have an idea for a bacon cooking machine that has never been seen or thought of by anyone else, where did this idea come from? It couldn't have come from me because 5 minutes before I thought of it I had no idea such a machine existed/could exist/would ever exist.

What mechanism does the brain go through to create an idea? Please provide a source of information or a research study along with your post if you are touting it as fact.

If 5 minutes before you didn't think that a machine like this baconator existed/could exist/would ever exist, wouldn't you be actively acknowledging that you didn't know it existed/could possibly exist/would ever have existed?

    Also, I know what you're getting at. I don't have a clue.

    Where do ideas come from?

Your neurons in your brain spark and connect when this happens you begin to "think"

    Where do ideas come from?

"Sparks" in my brain created a novel idea? How exactly? So new ideas are in the form of electrical messages? And how do the neurons know when/how to create a new idea? Where do the neurons get these electric signals of a completely new idea?

    Where do ideas come from?

It is a neural spark, a neural shock to your system. Your brain thinks in a matter of waves and molecules. Your neurons in your brain release an electrical charge as a sign of activity. These unique charges create an action. This action can range from physically moving, to something like a thought. Your ideas stem from a simple, neurological shock.

My brain thinks in a matter of waves and molecules? That's what everything IS. Actually, technically speaking, everything is both a molecule AND a wave at the same time. I fail to understand how randomly sparking neurons form coherent and novel ideas. In what manner would a neuron need to spark in order for me to invent teleportation system (or something as equally kick ass)?

You mean 'insight' and 'perception'? Ideas <->Insight<->Perception? I learned it in AP Psychology class of where it comes from, has to do with Gestalt Psychology I think. It all can be learned in one little Psychology textbook ^.^ I'm too lazy to type everything out even if I did remember how we can think of ideas lol

Your not getting it here. The sparking neurons are triggered by chemicals in your brain, sending a message to neural receivers. These activate what was called for, a kick, a punch, etc. Your thoughts stem from this same process except the neuron is calling for thought. They do not FORM coherent thoughts, they send the signal for you to think. Neural sparks never form thoughts, they send the message for you to think. Your capacity to form thoughts is determined by much else than this, but you form thoughts from the process of receiving a signal. This signal tells you to form a thought and your body does so naturally.

    Where do ideas come from?

I think ideas are recycled as in preloaded into everyones mind by maybe God? (Which I personaly don`t belive in) But someone, and it just needs that one moment to become apparent to said person.
Not sure if it makes sense, but I have believed this ever since my grand-father told me.

    Where do ideas come from?

Awesome question, I think ideas come from what you look at and what you associate with what your looking and as you look at different things lots of different images(and even the associations with these images) and thoughts come into your head and mix about to create new ideas.

Im not sure if thats 100% sound but I do A2 Psychology, hopefully it helps a little :S

    Where do ideas come from?

I think it's to do with association between things you have already seen and things you are seeing now, that triggers something in your brain to create the idea.

I could be way off the mark though. :p

    Where do ideas come from?

    No...
The only thing that is a particle and a wave is light...
    A spark is a spark
It's the manner in which the brain interprets the spark, which gives you the idea
