Lost my faith in humanity And I don't trust in society I'm numb, cold, ready. No one else dies today... What did you do? I don't remember... Murderer! They say I'm a murderer! God must be dead because I'm still free. No religion holds me... am I the killer? No one else dies today... What did you do? I'm the revenger, Murderer! No! I'm the revenger! Murderer! No I'm the... black hand of death! Sixty-five hundred days... I'm feeling good for the first time in years. Your miserable life is in my hands. What would you do? Kill him! Does this signal an ending or another dream just beginning? Are his actions worth forgiving? No more pain! Revenge! Haven't you enough? The dog is on his knees! Does this signal an ending or another dream just beginning? Is revenge worth any price? Tell me what's right? He wants more life! NO! You want more life? NO! Is this my victory? Murderer! Am I? Stay down on your knees And explain it to me one more time. What gives you the right? You took away my life... And left me with nothing, nothing. This is like what I dreamed... It seems like a good day to die. And so it ends. And now what?
In a constantly fluctuating sense of reality it's impossible to prove that anyone does anything for any reason.
I can prove that I kissed my girlfriend because I love her. I can prove that I lust, because I'm a horny heterosexual male. I can prove that I'm going to play my 360 because my friend called me maybe 5 minutes ago to tell me to get on.
How do you know that what you're touching is real? How do you know that the "life" you impact is real? Prove you exist.
How can you touch something that is not real? I know the life I impact is real because it can impact mine aswell.
Let's be scientific. How do you know something is really out there? Now ... We know things are there because 1. Light hits the retina of the eye. 2. And this changes the chemical composition of the eye. Right? 3. And this makes electricity travel along a nerve, the Optic Nerve. 4. And this goes to a part of the brain. 5. And then something happens and we see the thing. That's what happens according to science. Suppose someone were to put electrodes in our brains and stimulate the visual part of our brains mimicking the impulses we normally receive. Would we see? Definitely we would. But we wouldn't be seeing what is there outside. We wouldn't be seeing what is real. We'd be seeing because some electricity was put in our brain, and it would look the same as our real objects! How can you prove that what you see, feel, smell, or hear, is in fact real?
Oh, that's right. I already proved that people do things for only three reasons: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=432586 We define the word real. So we can say what real is and what real isn't.
Different people have different perceptions of reality, so if you're saying that social contract defines reality then it's a paradox.
No, I'm saying the dictionary defines reality. You may consider the dictionary a "social contract" but the word dictionary is much more accurate. So in that case a dictionary, which may be a social contract does indeed defines reality. I don't see how that's a paradox at all. We define real as "True and actual; not imaginary, alleged, or ideal." You could argue real things may be different then what we actually believe them to be. Either way though there still real because that's the way we define the word real. Just because you put complicated words in your sentence doesn't mean that the words fit in the context or that your sentence makes sense.
