Is "ass" really a "bad" word.

I will get some dictionary definitions first.

I think the only reason it was found to be "bad" was because an idiot used it out of context and another idiot took offense to it because it was out of context.


It basically means donkey.
So calling someone a donkey in a derogatory manner should be considered equally offensive as saying ass.


So now people can't even sue it IN CONTEXT because it's a swear word.


Society adapted to the words definition changing, but WHY?

Donkey's are usually lazy, so being called an ASS is an INSULT, some idiot didn't take offensive by being called a donkey but ass=lazy, and in the 1950's and under being lazy was very offensive (just guessing =P)

 

No, not at all. It's part of my everyday vocabulary.

 

Well.."Ass" is not a bad word IMO. A pain in my ass = a nuisance and not some things related to bad word. So, no.

It's like saying one word to describe my cat is bad, and one isn't because it's used out of context.


I don't get why society got numbed into thinking a word like this can be bad.

What's "bad" is personal opinion. If you look at society, the younger generations don't consider ass as much of a profanity as the older generations.

This thought process will continue to evolve as time passes.

 

So explain why any non-idiotic society would consider a curse?

Ass isn't a bad word becuase it's a natrual part of our body, it will always be there and there's nothing we can do about it (unless you remove it, but that doesn't count). The same with other parts of your body too.

And I probably crossed the line...

 

It's considered a bad word even though you can say it on TV. I'd say it's perfectly acceptable for anyone above 12 to say it.
