    Law questions of theft

I have a few questions about reporting a theft if you guys could help. Its in the U.S and i'm over 18. My question is can anyone report a theft or does it have to be the property owner? Like my friend can't just go to the police station and say my stuff was stolen. It has to be the property owner right? Unless your under 18? Please keep the responses to the point please all other post will be reported immediately as spam or you may just receive a message from me telling you how dumb you are. Thanks your pal Rabies

Well in order for anything to proceed and action be taken the property owner has to be present at sometime during action. A report can be made by a third party, but no legal action can be taken until the robbed is present to describe, and make clear what has gone wrong. Also, you cannot have a third party (your friend) represent you in court or any other legal median since you are now legally an adult. So you must appear, and cannot have a third party represent you.

    Exactly.
Your allowed to make a report, but no action will be taken until the actual owner of the item makes one.
For example: I got my car stolen, and Im not in the position to file a report with the police. You are allowed to go too the police and make a report, but they wont start doing anything until I - the owner of the car - makes a report. Get what Im saying?
