Lol, your first argument was just plain stupid to be honest.

And if you're an Atheist, you shouldn't have to ask for help on a forum board to try and explain something to your mum.
All in all, it seems like you left something out, and she owned you.

It's not hard at all to combat religion just go through the bible. Look for a few contradictions and present them to her. If she is one of these people who are so obsessive they believe it word for word she can't say anything. But if she is the type where they take there understanding of it on how they interpret it ask her why something so holy and divine would have contradictions, wasn't got intelligent enough to get someone with the ability to write? At the very least it should piss her off.

I know this isn't what you aethiests want to here, but here it goes.

I see you all are talking about why God lets there be pain and suffering, and natural disasters. God can't let the world be this perfect place, and here's something to think about, if Earth was perfect, and everybody got what they wanted, would that really be as enjoyable as life? I myself haven't had a great life. Fell in love with a girl, and usually, the sad story is she doesn't love you aswell. The girl loves me, too, but her parents won't let her see me anymore, because they think we had sex. Which we didn't. Anyway, It's almost like a video game, you play the game, (life), then you beat it, (die), and you enable god mode. (Perfect world.) After you do all of that, when you look back, have you ever not thought that playing and enjoying the regular game was better than just having everything handed to you?

I'm done pastoring. Your choice is your choice. Im just trying to help you guys make the right one.

We don't have to believe in God, I mean wtf did he ever do for us anyway?

Humans themself are responsible for the creations and survival.

If we are all god's children, why is jesus so important?

And don't answer with the fact that he helped people, look at ghandi and martin luther king, they don't have a whole religion following them.

No they're not, but they are responsible for their evolution, and development of intellect.

God didn't make us. (reffering to Big Bang Theory)

A typical statement from a "devoted" Christian. Bring up another religion and suddenly profanity is slipping out of your mouth like a waterfall.

Arguing with Christians is near impossible. Not because they have answers that slice away at yours, but because they have completely illogical ones that you really cannot argue against.

Say for example, you say that no one even knows the original bible, and the teachings of Christ have been distorted and manipulated to the Church's needs, Christians being the genius's they are, always have the answer: "Well you're not going to go to heaven you stupid shit!" Heard a version of that before? You might be surprised to find out that this answer isn't provided for Christians, they actually manage to come up with it on their own.

Honestly, there is nothing you can do to convince your mom that her religion is based on a giant fairy tale. She can only realize this from within and after accepting the fact that she could be wrong. Arguing with her will only make her clench and defend her religion more, which would push her more into it and only make matters worse. Trust me, I have been arguing with Christians for years and I have never had one admit to me that they are wrong and I am right. There really is no end to the arguments, because it all comes down to the reasoning and morality of the individual, which can only be changed on the individual level. If I were you I would just stop talking to your mom about religion and maintain a good relationship with her.
