    Scammer's profile link:Andy (Andy)

Explanation of the trade:moderator pretended to be a buyer AND a middleman using different discords

Amount scammed: 30b ikov gp (270m osrs)

How they scammed: Yo what up forums, so I had posted a thread on sythe stating that I’m selling 30b ikov gp for osrs gp, and one guy messaged me, we began talking on discord (Hose) and we decided that we’re going to do a trade of 30b ikov gp for 270m osrs gp with the help of a middleman for which he will be paying the fee for. No more than 2 minutes later, he manages to find a middleman that happens to be a mod, and creates a group for the three of us. We begin talking, I ask the middleman to send me a message on sythe so that I know that he’s legit, after about 5 minutes he sends me the message on sythe and 2 seconds later messages in our discord group that he had just sent me the message on sythe. Without putting too much thought into it I think alright this guy’s a 200$ donator AND a moderator and he just confirmed the he’s the owner of the sythe account, surely this is going to go by smoothly. I barely glanced over the content of the message that he sent me via sythe, we agree to meet up on ikov for me to proceed with the payment, thinking that the “buyer” is doing the same with the middleman of osrs for the 270m that I was supposed to get, as soon as the middleman received the 30b (30m in platinum tokens), both the buyer and the middleman deleted and blocked me on discord. I am left baffled by the audacity of this moderator, and after further investigation happen to find out that the discord that I was interacting with had the exact same name and user ID as Andy on Sythe however, a different unique profile ID (never knew this was actually a thing until today lol) and the screenshot that Andy send me on sythe was of a conversation that he had with the buyer (Hose) about some completely unrelated runescape account, and the buyer stating that my Sythe account is his, I was feeling defeated and confused.
However, upon further investigation I noticed that my situation is not as hopeless as I had thought and the mod did not commit the perfect crime and manage to mess himself up big time.

    Proof that it's their Discord:
All the context can be found in these screenshots and I have also taken the liberty to highlight the points that are essential for this case.

    My case:

    1. He knew that if I did not notice the indiscrepancy in his discord username and his misleading “confirmation” message on sythe that there would be no direct link if he did scam me, so he could become 30b richer without smearing his good reputation, win-win in his mind I guess.

    2. After I paid the 30b on ikov I didn’t receive the 270m on osrs that I was supposed to get and both Hose#5630 Unique profile ID 367424909569163264 and Andy#7450 Unique profile ID 300347219326926871 deleted and blocked me on discord, meaning that either a) they’re working together; or b)they’re the same person; but apparently b was the obvious answer, for the following reason:

I have never contacted Andy on sythe before, only spoke to him on his “fake” discord about this middleman service, but.. I received the screenshot message (Imgur) from him on sythe, and no more than 2 seconds later he messaged me on his “unofficial” (Andy#7450 Unique profile ID 300347219326926871) discord that he sent me the message (Imgur) which indicates that he is in fact the owner of all of these discord accounts:

    Andy#7450 Unique profile ID:322821243776663552 (Andy's official discord)
Andy#7450 Unique profile ID 300347219326926871 (Andy's unofficial discord, aka "fake Andy")
Hose#5630 Unique profile ID 367424909569163264 (Hose)

Now, IF Andy wants to make a claim that he is not the owner of either of these discords that were involved in the scamming of my 30b, he has to provide a screenshot of him sending a message to Hose#5630 from his official linked discord that confirms that he indeed sent a message to me on sythe, because otherwise “fake” Andy never would have known that the message was sent to me. However the message couldn't have been sent later than 3:49pm (since I received both the sythe message from Andy and the confirmation from his “unofficial” discord at the exact same time) because if neither "fake Andy" nor Hose received a message from Andy's official discord or sythe, it means that “fake Andy” Andy#7450 Unique profile ID: 300347219326926871 was immediately aware of when the message on sythe was sent to me without interaction with Andy’s official discord, proving that Andy is indeed the owner of all 3 of the discords. And should therefore be punished appropriately and be forced to reimburse and compensate me accordingly AND/OR be banned from Sythe entirely for abusing his good reputation.

DISCLAIMER: Now, I would like to point out that it was very careless for me not to check the content of the message that I received and for not recording the whole process and not taking more preventative actions. However, no one would ever expect this type of behavior from a moderator which is why I let my guard down and acted recklessly. I definitely don’t think that I’m the first one to be scammed by a trusted member, people that are buying/selling here for a long time know very well how to keep themselves safe during trades, and with that information and experience they also gain an understanding on how to avoid getting caught by making it difficult to provide evidence or to connect them to the actual crime, now I can only blame myself for being so careless and putting too much trust in a trusted player, and this will definitely be a very expensive lesson for me to be a lot more cautious with this REGARDLESS of how legit a buyer/seller or middleman appears to be.

My friends, always proceed with caution and take necessary steps to prevent yourself from getting scammed and never let your guard down!

You were scammed by an impostor. If you notice the attached screenshot in the PM you received from me:
    Full PM screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/JcYDloa.png
Just the Discord chat shown: https://i.imgur.com/90i3Mmx.png

The user asks me to send a PM to your Sythe, claiming it is his. (This is where you should have noticed something was off.)

Here is the specific portion you are requesting where I state that the PM is sent:

Here is a full video of my chat with the Hose guy, where I copy both of our unique IDs:

You were indeed scammed by an imposter. The PM you were sent was completely proper and should have tipped you off immediately that something wasn't right. Had you read that PM more carefully this could have been avoided.
The user pretended to be interested in an account that I was listing for sale in order for me to send you a Sythe PM.

I am sorry for your loss nonetheless.

Unfortunately this is a common scam. Andy sent a thorough pm and as a trader you do need to read the pm's that are sent to you as you have learned, he is not at fault here.

    Fuck scammers
