Reputation points instead of Vouches

Almost every single forum I went on, they had a reputation system. Sythe does too except in the form of vouches.
Now, this saves signature space for everyone, you can have more and it's more effective in a way.
How is it more effective? You see 5 rep power instead of 20 vouches. With vouches, you could miss one or there are those good vouches and a few bad ones.
With rep, however, you can -rep or +rep meaning add to your trade reputation power or subtract. This can prevent you from moving up to a new power or allow you to.
Bad things:
Rep can be abused. You can rep people when they didn't deserve it which may give bad people a false reputation and potentially scam other members. However, this can be avoided. Admins can either look at every rep point given out or set limits.

Trade rep can only be given for one thing; trades. Had a good trade? +rep them and leave a comment on what happened. Meaning problems or how fast it was. Had a bad trade? -rep and warn everyone.

It makes sense in my point of view but I probably didn't explain it well for you to completely understand it.

 

I had always supported this idea. I don't like the vouch system very much and that too is abused heavily.

But yea, not everyone should be able to add or subtract to reputation. Only people who meet certain requirements.

 

NO one should have vouches in their signature in the first place.

Also, it's a horribile idea. There isn't enough people to view and accept every rep change. This idea sucks.

I hate this idea. I've been on forums which used it, and I much prefer the vouch system as it has more credibiltity. You could make 100 leacher accounts and just use them to rep yourself.

As for signature space, Sythe has made a new place to put vouches, in your profile.

I support, but only mods/staff/etc should be able to give rep.

 

Only if there is a way to prove that the rep is given based on a good/bad trade. For example, every time you +/- someone's rep, you should have pictures to prove what happened that made you do it (good trade = MSN convo or something in game that shows the trade actually happened).

You say that every forum you go on has a rep system, well all those forums also have rep beggers. Thats the advantage of vouches, people actually have to have a reason to vouch, unlike rep where a person could simply click the rep button for no reason at all.

 

This reputation system will be abused.

 

The rep system sounds good and would help a lot .. Vouches can't be trusted well seen any noob can make a fake vouch and claim it to be a legit vouch.

 

Support, to everyone that says it will be abused, look at the vouch system, everyway this could be abused it can be applied to our current vouch system.

I support because not only do we see good transactions we will also see bad rep, unlike the vouch system where the user chooses which vouches to show to people.

 

This sounds good. Like, 1 rep would = 10 vouches sorta say, There would be a forum for this, When you got about 20 good trade you could ask for a mod to 1 + you, sorta like Mario (1UP) lol

 

If they could think of a way to make it work without getting abused, I think it would be great.

But a great deal of thought would have to go into it, and I don't reckon anyone is prepared to implement it.
