Shading needs a lot of work.
Work with smaller images then move your way up. Start with a simple sprite then move up to eventually a background.
It looks like you used the line tool to make most of the lines instead of going pixel by pixel with the pencil. That's not usually a good thing. Going pixel by pixel insures you have a straight diagonal line.

Work on shading. Get a shade darker and lighter and create a light source. Then go a shade darker/lighter than those shades and go even more in-depth.

 

Pretty good for a first attempt. I would avoid creating the entire picture on paint. Get a rough sketch done on paper and then scan it and use it as a stencil. Also, with shading, be creative and daring. With quality shading, you can add a great 3d touch to the image.

Good try for a first go keep it up
