Why Is belief in God so Frowned upon?

I have been on sythe for quite a while and I love it. I love the community, the people, and a lot more. Through out my time at sythe, one major thing has always bothered me.

Why are so many people on sythe so impulsive to cut down almost any and ever follower of a supernatural belief?

In order to prove the existence of almost any spiritual or supernatural belief in a rational debate I would have to provide rational undeniable evidence to support my theory. There are very limited ways to do so.

Most supernatural and spiritual beliefs can’t be classified normally. They are attributed with traits outside of reality, so to prove existence with logic that conforms to reality is impossible. The only way to prove the existence would be to provide logic outside reality which can not be done, evidence can not be supplied, and therefore it can not be absolute truth in a rational debate.

So why do people continue to argue over the existence over a god when no absolute truth can be reached?

Reason: The power of comprehending, inferring, or thinking especially in orderly rational ways.

Rational: Having reason or understanding

If someone chooses to understand/comprehend or use a supernatural belief to supply an answer it is not invalid or wrong.

 

I'd say most people argue just to be different. It's a pointless argument, like you said, because there will be no way to tell until we die. Your last sentence, though, I will partially have to disagree with. Supplying a supernatural belief as an answer to some things, such as murder, should not be taken seriously. If that were a law, people could kill and just say 'Allah told me to' or 'Jesus sent me a message' and they'd be walking freely.

 

To be honest, i just straight up do not believe in him.. A man who created all men? Made earth or w.e? People spreading seas,? stated in the bible. Just all bs to me, truly.

 

Simply because somebody blames something on a supernatural belief does not mean they will walk free from the punishment of society. They will be punished by the full extent of society rules. If someone escapes by making a claim like that, it is at the fault of loopholes in your government's judicial systems.

 

The answer is simple: you believe in something which atheists believes is not true. You believe in this because you do not know all the facts. All we're doing is supplying you the facts, in form of scientific evidence, overwhelming logic and general argumentation. Nobody is attacking your religious beliefs, we're just stating why they're wrong.

It's like explaining to a child that Santa doesn't actually exist. Mankind needs to grow up and put religious superstition where it belongs: the category of mythology.

 

The only time I've witnessed the "cutting down" of a believer is in the sfa forum when they try to use religion as the basis of an argument.

 

You cannot prove God dosent exist, but you can porve santa does exist.

If you researched religion as much as you researched why aithism you might have second thoughts.

The bible is not just a bunch of mad up stories. They are historically true.

 

It is a wonderful historic artifact which is why is not tossed away, although it is also inaccurate in other ways.

I never stated that I was religious or not religious. If I were to say I believe in a god, and I am also a rational man would that be impossible? You also assume that I believe in a Supernatural as an alternative to finding a truth... I have not used it as an alternative to research. I have done my research and If I still choose then it is wrong?

So the belief of a supernatural power is the same equal of lacking mature? It can not be proven wrong, because we do not know the truth. The same thing goes for many of the theories taught in school, is there a line to being rational? TO what is accepted and what isn't?

 

"To each his own" pretty much describes my opinion on this topic. I'm agnostic, and I wouldn't think of a catholic or athiest any less than any other religion/belief.

 

i'd have to say that most of the arguments that arise on this forum are caused by someone being really out-spoken about their beliefs, but don't know much about their bible, or are talking down people who don't believe in their religion. More so the talking down part, someone posting about how they're better because of their beliefs or something.

 

I agree 100%, I beleive the reason is that athiests have no way to "practice" their religeon so attack others. Now im sure this isnt true for most athiests just the outspoken ones on the internet.

 

You cannot prove nor disprove a universal negative - we can, however, prove that religion is fundamentally flawed.

Ironically, I research religion to find its flaws.

The Bible consists of historical documents. A lot of the things that took place according to the Bible, DID take place in reality. Other things most likely didn't, such as the Israelites walking the desert for 40 years, Moses splitting the Red Sea, Jesus getting crucified (plagiarized tale from other previous supposed 'saviours'), etcetera.

Atheism is not a religion, it's the opposite - lack of religion. And yes, atheists do tend to attack religious beliefs, but there's a pretty good reason for that.

You cannot prove he exists, nor can you prove he doesn't exist.

I do not believe in him, but thats for personal reasons.

 

Um i just reckon its because so many people have their own beliefs and so many different religions who interpret the bible differently.
I mean some people just straight up don't believe in him and just say its all lies.

 

Ok people, stop being assholes. If you beleive in God, great. If your Atheist, great. Now Atheists stop attacking the religious people, they have done nothing wrong to you, and religous people stop attacking the Atheists, they choose to beleive their own beleifs.

Now were all happy.

 

No one is attacking, just helping.

No one should limit their life just because an imaginary figure says to not do some stuff. No one believes gravity is a miracle anymore (Aristotle thought so) because we have modern-day sciences to prove us otherwise; just as god is proven otherwise.

 

Athiests are just looking for arguements with God believers.

 

Because belief in a man that's invisible, and everywhere at once, is three people, and can form a sheep by saying the words
"Let there be a sheep!" is completely retarded.

Not to mention it's considered a "loving and nurturing God", yet lets innocent people starve and get tortured, and burn for eternity if you don't follow what he says?

Yep, shows real presence of common sense.

 

People can't accept people for who they are in my opinion. If they believe in something someone should not put them down becuase of what they believe. Even if it can be proven to them it has been proven that person and that is why they believe in it.
