    The Education System(United States)

Hey Sythe, what are your views on the education system in-place in the United States? I have a few thoughts on it, so continue reading. Once done, post your own thoughts!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahhhhh, public education! This hits close to home, as I myself am a student at a public school. Staff & Administration, the most corrupt, money hoarding freaks. My math teacher always trys to bring real-world issues into the classroom, but he never gets his point across. He will teach for 5 minutes, and then switch to his thoughts on some real world issue. Last class, it was gasoline prices, and how they fell.

Homework and standardized tests... Why do we take the test, and why do we bother doing the homework? Homework, to me, has no real educational value. "Okay, I am going to teach you about one subject for 40 minutes a day, then you can go home and do a homework assignment that will take you upwards of an hour to complete. And, lets not forget Standardized and State Testing, the most bullshit waste of perfectly good heavy paper. We spend most of our year doing math and science because we are forced at the end of the year to take a state test. The exam apparently does not determine our ability and aptitude on the certain subject, but it "determines the teachers ability to effectively teach the subject. Bullshit, am I right?

All of the subjects... I'm an 8th grade student in a public school, and I take a minimum of six graded courses... Math, Science, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Foreign Language(French or Spanish, I take Spanish), and technology(basically woodshop). Among those, they are pretty easy to complete for a passing grade. But, some of theme are pretty useless.. But, in the end, Spanish will become usefull. It is estimated that some time soon, 50% of the American population will be of Latin-American decent.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are your thoughts on the education system? Do you think it is flawless and should be kept this way, or do you think it is completely useless and another system should be implemented. Thanks for reading.

That was indeed an interesting video. Does anyone else wish to share their thoughts on public education?

The united states education system is just getting worse and worse. One state (forgot which one), is now thinking of lowering the failing rate to 50%. This means the child can do absolutely no work, and still wont end up with anything lower then a 50. It's bull shit, and something should be done.

I have seemed to notice-with the help of some threads- that public education is basically a memory game. Seriously, if you learn something, its down pact. If you memorize something, you can forget it.
