I hope this is ok because I use GIMP and I love it I can use all of the brushes from Photoshop on it and I have a pretty artistic range so far, Umm here are things I made, mind you I only started graphics 2 days ago. Also since whatever that greedy guys's name is who wouldn't make a Poke'mon sig for me HA! I could care less. Anyways rate comment request. I will gladly make one for you.They re in order from newest to oldest.

That is simply amazing! The colors are dazzling! You should definitely think about entering in SOTW, I'd vote for you.

Hey mate. No chance I could get you to write a simple guide for GIMP? I never found out how to use it, and from what I've seen in this thread, you can make AWESOME things. I'm new to graphics also, but you started 2 days ago; you must know what to do and stuff like that.

 

These are not awesome signatures. And PhotoShop is preferable to GIMP.

Anything you can get on Photoshop I can get GIMP Brushes Texts Grunges anything And yes I might write a tut. I could care less about your opinion though not being rude but if you prefer it I can't change that And ou shoudnt be so biased

 

Pretty nice, also pretty simple.
I like it, and i could say the same about my own sigs, but need's more work

 

Im not taken by the pokemon approach, But i cant critisise due to personal opinion..

In general GFX terms, there pretty good. I wouldn't say PS is preferable.. I have never used GIMP, but i use PSP, and i find it better than PS, and i can make better stuff.

 

Yea, but I'm just getting into graphics.
And I haven't really found a good torrent for Photoshop yet.

keep it to 1 render in a sig or its too busy, and find some tutorials and learn some new effects, eventually you'll be able to make sweet ass sigs

 

Keep it to one focal per sig. Multiple renders are okay if A) they aren't the same and B) they are at different depths. Meaning, one is blurred more and not as revealing as the other one.
Your best one out of the bunch is the dewgong one and even that isn't that good. Try to learn different techniques. Planet-renders.net have some good gimp tutorials that you can follow. From there, you can expand your horizons.
Textures are a no for backgrounds. I suggest starting with a black background, a render, then smudging and moving the render around to creating a good background. Now, that's not what I do, but it's good for beginners.
