I believe the big bang theory created the earth. Maybe through the whole big explosion some bacteria or something was formed as a result of different temperatures/rock/gravity etc and we just evolved from there.

But yeah, i wasn't around back then so i'm not too sure.

First off, this is asking How do you think life started?, not God debate.
I think the universe was created by because the nothingness didnt have anything to show its nothing-muscles at so it decided to create life.
Until such a scenario can be disproven or proved, well have to wait and see.

But seriously, i think the world was created by the big bang.

If by 'nothing' you mean time, space, matter and energy, sure. Otherwise, please quit flaunting your scientific illiteracy.

    Actually he's right.

The Big Bang suggests a finite universe (meaning prior to that there was no TIME, no space, no occilations) and no volume (and infinite density)

Did you know that common sense is poorly equipped to deal with many truths about the universe? It evolved in "middle earth", where objects looked as though they followed classical, Newtonian physics.

I think science and religion can go hand in hand. It's just unproven yet. Maybe earth WAS in fact created in 7 days (muslim here), and some people argue that Islam agrees with the big bang theory, who knows. They're all Scientific theories, I suppose. :)

The Genesis account is not a scientific theory.

Science and religion can theoretically go hand in hand - if religion is true. We have yet to find convincing evidence that it is.

I beleive strongly in evolution and the big bang, I think there is the possibility of a god existing but not in the way the bible etc makes it out to be.

1). The Big Bang describes what happens after time zero.

2). The Big Bang does not imply that everything sprang from nothing.

Alternatively, if the universe sprang from "something", than the Big Bang is not the true beginning of the universe. Alternative to that is an infinite universe. You can't have all pieces to the pie on this one.

The Big Bang theory does not claim to explain the beginning of the universe, but rather, what happened just after time zero.

Careful of the logic that you're using:

"This doesn't sound right to me, therefore, it must not be true."

Unfortunately, reality takes precedence over common sense.

I like where some of you guys are going but some of your logic is a little off, you can't prove something by supposedly disproving another. You can't say, "God had to exist because (let's say for the sake of argument that we found proof that abiogenesis never happened) abiogenesis never happened." All that could mean is that there is another answer that we just haven't found yet. Also for those who use the "time and energy had to have a starting point because an infinite amount of time cannot pass" argument (more complicated, but don't wanna type the whole thing :p ) all that proves if THEISM, not God. That could mean that another god created everything not the God so often referred to.

$tom, if you really knew anything about Christianity you would know that the "God-in-man" (poor choice of words, sorry but I'm still half asleep :D ) Jesus is not the "form" (another poor choice of words) of God that is supported in creationism...

Humans will probably never be able to understand the complexity of how life began.

Microscopic organisms likely evolved in to larger organisms, then they evolved in to larger organisms etc. to adapt to the changing environment of Earth in it's earlier years. As an Atheist, I believe the supposedly rational evidence provided by modern science.
