    Homework

But in math there are too many stupid people who don't even listen to the lesson, or when someone just taught them something, they say "Wait, what?" It's their fault, all you have to do is pay attention.

Like this morning in my first period class (which is math). I was trying to sleep alittle bit before the rest of the day, and the teacher keeps asking questions and NOONE knows the answer, therefore no one even speaks. Even though, I'm half asleep, I wake up and tell her the answer.

I'm very good at math and I get angry with the teachers only like math done their way. Like showing work. In test I don't use calculators, don't right nothing, all is done in my head, and they question me cheating.

Utter Bullshit. Just because others are stupid, shouldn't make you suffer.

Not doing your homework shows a lack of determination needed to do well in life.

homework is a waste of time! like..the work we do it home is just the same stuff we do at school..we might aswell just add an hour to school time because homework is schoolwork anyways (not suggesting that) =p

    Homework

If you don't understand point of homework you havnt matured yet.

It prepares you for esays, for coursework, for organization and for planning.
Most importantly it allows you to revise, so you can implement what you learned - much better into your mind.
Its a way of re-enforcing what you have learned.

No one likes homework... but its a stage everyone goes through - so qwit yer yappin.

    Homework

We're talking about homework, not school in general.

Why do homework on our time? Like I said, homework, to me, is a waste of time. We have time in school. Why extend school to our time? Sometimes, when I get home, I start my homework at around 3:00. Then, I do my Math, then ELA, and then Social Studies. Then I go eat at 9:00. Then I finish with Science at 10:00 and go to bed. I had no time for myself. I didn't eat anything that day besides dinner and lunch at school.

Time at our house is time at our house. Our home is not school unless we're homeschooled. They try to make it that way. I'm just wondering why they do.

    Homework

I read on wikipedia (not going to quote) that homework has a completely negative effect on younger children. If it wasn't for homework I might like school. I think it helps me, but it is still a complete waste of time.

This man has the right idea, although some people don't seem to get the entire point of what homework is for.

    Homework

People who complain about getting assigned homework and also saying that it doesn't help are usually the people who are just plain dumb, or to lazy to give a shit about doing work outside of "school time" or think that they are smart enough to not do the homework and still pass- (1 percent of all students?)

Lmao, I bet your one of those people in school who thinks their smart just because you have good grades. Good grades take effort, not intelligence in most cases.

This post has received an award for intelligence.

    Homework

    School gets harder, trust me.
Personally, I don't put that much effort in my homework. I try to do it whenever I can, I usually only have 5 minutes of it to actually do at home.

    Homework

On the contrary, the entire of your younger life is spent learning, and your older life is spent making a living. Unfortunately, unless you're born in to wealth there isn't much more you can do about it.

Let me put it this way: Do you like idiots? If you don't learn, you're an idiot.

    Homework

Homework is simply to reinforce the ideas expressed in schoolwork. If you are lagging behind in a subject, you may study the homework in your OWN time. If you have a reasonably adept brain and can complete the coursework easily, then of course, with my theology, you don't need homework. Of course this is contradictory to many schools, who think that all students need homework.

Some of the students that I know in my class always do their homework and try hard in class. Whereas others in the class come from families of scholars and as such are mostly brats and never give a shit about coursework/homework, though still get good grades on coursework, I may have to disagree with you. Note: it was a small survey size, I am aware, so it does not represent every child in the classroom today.

    Homework

I do not quite comprehend how most of the people commenting on this thread continue to state that 'homework is a waste of time', or 'work belongs at school'. Sure, you don't always have to do homework to get good grades in middle/high school, but it sets you up for success later in education. If you dont develop the skills necessary to write essays, plan out study schedules or work on your own time, you simply won't survive any sort of (academic) post-secondary education. I understand that PS schooling might not be everybody's goal, but that is what highschool is meant to prepare you for.

This seems to hit the nail on the head. When you go to university/college/where-ever, you don't get class time to work on anything. You get lectured on theory for hours every day, and then you go home and you learn it yourself. If you don't, you fail. It's that simple.
