Musician Section

I am myself a musician and I think it would be a great idea to have a section devoted only to musicians. It would be cool to post your songs and bounce ideas off other people and get suggestions. It would also be cool to share songs and recommend songs to learn, help with scales and certain aspects of music playing.

Here is my suggestion.

Either we Create a new section called "Art" and merge the current graphics sections into it and then add the Music section to it. Both different sub-sections.

or

Create a Music section and merge it with Tunes Analysis. They would both be directly under the Music section.

We have tunes analysis but musicians would benefit from an enhanced section and I'm sure it would attract more users to Sythe

This would be a high quality learning experience for Sythe as well. People would ask questions and receive answers from the community an benefit their playing and enjoyment

 

Tunes analysis could be renamed to make musicians seem more welcome to posting in there?

I don't really see why you can't post it in Tunes analysis unless we have a lot of musicians that actually play music.

 

I thought about that. Tunes analysis is basically for anything oriented with music. Pole maybe for people who play an instrument?

 

Through posting you'll find many people play an instrument and would benefit from this suggestion.

I'd say make Tunes Analysis a sub section along with a Musician/Vocalist section

This is actually a very good suggestion. I am also a musician and would probably be very active there if we were to ever make this forum/sub-section. I'll offer any and all support that I can for this.

I see no reason why you can't discuss music in the music section.

Maybe as r33l said, a subforum would fit in nicely.

Agreed. Go to Tunes analysis and see how many people post their own pieces, or give advice about playing music. Posting there would just create a lot of idiots all over your threads like "I can't read music, please record it so I can listen to it" and "i like rap better" and stuff like that.

 

I would agree with this fully, as a guitarist/vocalist who is actually looking at majoring in theory it would be nice to have a sub section devoted to us.

HOWEVER I could see this getting WAY out of hand, don't forget sythe is a site dedicated to RUNESCAPE, if we get a musician forum, the next thing you know people are going to want a mechanic forum,and a chemest forum, and a nurse forum etc.

Music I understand since 90% of people who use a computer for gaming generally listen to music and are involved with it so I support this suggestion AS LONG as it doesn't get out of hand....

 

Yes, but it wouldn't be for the people that just listen to music. It would be for the people who compose it. And being a musician most of the time isn't your career, as nurse, chemist, and mechanics are. Music is an art, and therefore it deserves to be here just as much as the Graphic section.

 

We already do this But we get idiots that know nothing about music trying to act like they do. Which quite honestly is unwanted and annoying. when you report them for spam nothing is done so they keep doing this.

I would say that there should be a sub forum within the T&A forum that is specified under "musicians" and anyone spamming within it will get 2 infraction points and the forum will only be for debating peoples own music\lyrics\idea's not that of other bands.

That is quite an ignorant thought you have there. The T&A section is a big part of sythe, and is the only reason or at least one of the main reasons a lot of people are still around on sythe. Music is for something someone can enjoy, not to fix problems etc. like the forums you say in your second paragraph.

 

It wasn't ignorant at all if you understood it. He wants a forum dedicated to a class of people Musicians. I think because music is a big part of computing, it, video composition, graphic arts and general computing careers should have their own little forums to discuss in as they would be active as these are careers and professions which are enjoyed by a MAJORITY of computer users.

BUT because nobody likes messy boards filled with TOO MANY sections if having a Musician forum dedicated to music professionals means that every professional out their is going to want a career dedicated to their trade I don't think it should be done.

I did not once say that any other trade or skill is less useful than musician, or sub par to it, merely that looking at a majority of computer users we must stick to forums which will remain active and appeal to the majority, and not fill the forums with extra sub forums that will appeal to minuscule minorities and eventually become inactive.

Well, in this case it wouldn't be meant to appeal solely to the profession, although I'm pursuing the music business personally.

It should be meant for readers, learners, people pursuing careers, dreamers, and hobbyists alike.

I realize we can't have a complete music section. I simply want to add it somewhere. And like I said before, Music is an art. Your other examples are not.

 

I'm sure we could add a music section and put Tunes Analysis under it, etc.

They do it for programming, etc. and it would increase revenue for Sythe.

 

I agree and support, I myself play 3 instruments. I would like to get into discussions of setups as I myself have a recording studio, discuss different techniques/software and post maybe some tutorials on that kind of stuff. Just stuff from the music industry. I also say that they do add an arts forum and split it up into like music, graphics, and video since I am really into video editing/making as well. You have my full support on this.
