    This is the HOMEWORK HELP THREAD not the "get your post count up by posting useless shit!" thread. Thanks for being a dumbfuck. And yes, 5 is obviously the answer...

    I need help with my Algebra. We're doing equations like this...-

    X-(-2)=12 Find value of X.
    -2P-(-5)-2P=13 Find value of P.

    If you could show me what steps to take on equations like these that would be great!

    Here's how you do this:

    [X (minus) (-2)] is the same as [X + 2]

    So, you have this now:
    X + 2 = 12
    X = 10

    Plug it in: (10) - (-2) = 12
    10 + 2 = 12
    12=12 (SOLVED!)

    Yet again, Subtracting a negative is the same as a positive:

    -2P + 5 - 2P = 13

    Group:
    -4P + 5 = 13

    Subtract 5 from both sides:
    -4P = 8

    Divide:
    P = -2

    Plug it in:
    -2(-2) - (-5) -2(-2) = 13
    4 + 5 + 4 = 13
    9 + 4 = 13
    13 = 13 (SOLVED!)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Any more questions, feel free to ask.
    Yeah we're just getting into converting decimals and regular numbers into percents, and ratios and rates. I could use some help.
    At 60 MPH, a car travels 340 miles on 20 gallons of gas.
    1. What is the average mileage per gallon of gasoline?
    2. How many miles could this car travel on 5 gallons of gasoline at the same speed?
    3. What percent of the 20 gallons is 5 gallons?
    -----------
    Solve the equation.
    4. 6(Q + 22) = -120
    ------------------
    Write the equation in standard form with integer coefficients.
    5. Y = -3X + 9
    6. Y = 1/2X + 4
    I need to know how to do the work from step 1 to the end.
    1) Mileage = Total Distance / Total Fuel Consumed
    = 340/20
    = 17miles/gallon
    2) If a car travels 17 miles on 1 gallon, it will travel 17*5 miles on 5 gallons.
    17*5 = 85 miles.
    3) 5 is one quarter of 20.
    1/4 * 100 = 25%.
    4) 6(Q+22)=-120
    6Q+6(22)=-120
    6Q+132=-120
    6Q=-252
    Q=-42
    Q = - 42.
    EDIT: I'm not sure what it means by 5 and 6, although I know what standard form is. 1am over here, sleep time :p
    Please make sure you understand what you're copying down, if there's something you don't get just ask! You won't learn anything otherwise :)
    EDIT --> Fat got 1-4 right, but I'll show you another way of doing #4 :)
    Here are 4, 5, and 6.
    Okay, you can divide both sides by 6; yielding:
    [6(Q+22)]/6 = -20
    Q+22 = -20
    Q = -42.
    Plug it back in to the equation;
    6(-42 + 22) = 6(-20) = -120. This checks out.
    Standard form is Ax + By = C
    You need to get all the X's and Y's on one side. To do this, you can just add 3X to both sides;
    Y + 3X = 9 - 3X + 3X;
    3X + Y = 9.
    The coefficients (A=3, B=1) are both integers, so this is the answer.
    Again, we need to get X and Y on the same side. We can rewrite 1/2X as 0.5X, so;
    Y - 0.5X = 4
    Since we need integer coefficients, we can multiply both sides by 2 (to get rid of the X/2) --
    2(Y - 0.5X) = 2(4)
    2Y - X = 8
    -X + 2Y = 8 --> Standard Form with all coefficients being integers.
    If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
    I need some help REALLY REALLY REALLY fast!
    Here is my problem:
    For FRIDAY I have to write an essay!
    The problem is that my Microsoft Office TRIAL (Which I just found out was a trial) just closed down. I can't use it anymore. It's expended.
    So, I need to get a free-to-download program, like Microsoft Office, where I can write it. I have tryed googling "Microsoft Office Download", but I didn't really get any results.
    I need a new program / renewed Microsoft Office ASAP.
    What I will do know is trying to illegally download Microsoft Office. O.O
    Post some programs.
    Thanks you very much in advance!
