Well, I've received an infraction for Backseat Modding now.

The post wasn't Backseat Modding, because I watch what I say. I didn't say that he needs to stop flaming, read the rules, but saying that I wouldn't advise it. And I just ask a question to back up what he had said.

I'm a UE, and I'm here to help people. I didn't know that helping would be considered Backseat Modding in this case, such as before. Before, however, I did tell the person to read the stickies.

 

It was backseat modding, and you've been warned previously, so it was entirely warranted. Denied.

 

I couldn't PM you for one of the two reasons:

1) You had your PM system shut off
2) Your inbox was full.

How is this Backseat Modding though?

I'm a User Educator, and my job is to educate noobs on thing they don't know.

Shown here, I was apparently just advising this guy not to flame, but not demanding it. I wasn't say to read the Stickies or anything, and he just claims that he had wrote what he posted on that page.

I just thought that he had ripped it, for there was no direct confirmation of him actually creating the above said.

My PM System was not shut off? I received PM's while I was sleeping last night.

 

User Education stays in the user educator forum.

If anyone on the staff disagrees, they'll tell me.

 

Do you think that a Sticky should be implemented in the User Education Private Section that will explain this? Up until now, I was unaware that you were only allowed to help out in the User Education Section. I thought that as UE's, we are Sectionals under The Dark, so that we would be allowed to help anywhere.

Your job is not to act like you were a mod. Your job is to write articles into that section of yours. Nothing else.

 

If my job is to write, then I have obviously been failing. As a result, I should, in essence, be thrown out.

I'm only ever active in the Help & Requests Sub-Forum, because I can't think of a good topic to write on anymore.

As Finn said, I guess this Thread might as well be locked.

For Pshynosis said.. Infractions are RARELY reversed.

 

Although, his post made of seem like he was backseat moderating there is a fine line between helping members and acting like a mod.

Now I could understand "You will be infracted for flaming" or something similar to that but this seems more like a way to help a member than to backseat mod. Very very minor backseat moderating at the most.

This seems more like a suggestion to help than acting like a moderator...

This post above was not infracted for, and this is more of a severe case than Unb4nn3d's post. Not only is it backseat moderating it is spam.

Cfrey, I agree 100%. The word *educator* can be open for interpretations. Don't you feel like if he can be infracted for attempting to educate users outside the UE, we shouldn't be able to infract outside our own sections? I remember Deacon made a thread about this, and you all shut it down yet now you're shooting him down for doing HIS job on Sythe (EDUCATING USERS) in a section where he is not directly intended to do so.

 

Reversed.

User Educators are meant to help people, even if it is out of their section. It is not backseat modding ("I didn't say that he needs to stop flaming, read the rules,")

A User Educator can go wherever they want, a rank cannot confine them to a specific sections. All that needs to be emphasized is that your duty is only directly applicable in the User Education section but that does not mean you can not help people outside of the User Education section, just you need to remember than you're not above the rules.

 

BS modding isn't helping. You realize that, right?

I am not advertising a website in any way, for one has not been stated or posted?

I saw rs nechryeal's Avatar, and that's what it looked like. I never told people to go there, and I am not a member of the website you are referring to because I don't like Deacon Frost.
