Rune Scape? or Run Escape!

Tell me this, Runescape came out way back when. It came back BEFORE magic. Magic was an update that came after the release of Runescape. So this means that Runes came about same time. So is runescape really Rune Scape? (Translated as quest of runes) or Run! Escape! since walking/running has been here since the release! Tell me this ppl?

 

Well, that's certainly an interesting way to look at it.

But Running was never on the game when it first came out. That is your fault. The original RuneScape when it came out was RuneScape Classic, and I believe Magic was available then. Therefore, the name should still stand to be known as RuneScape.

 

I don't know if Magic came out after Runescape was started, but I do remember how I got into runescape.

My friend wanted to play a game during school, so he googled stuff and among them was "run escape games, etc..." and runescape came up:O
And thats how I got into it

 

running hasn't been here since the beginning, running was added in RS2, there wasn't running in Runescape Classic

 

I would rather call it Rune Scape, run escape is what i use to call it, yet has no meaning or point.

it's Runescape, from what i have heard, you had to sleep in beds to restore energy, and there was no running.

 

running was added in RS2, so Runescape is correct

Okay guys. I didnt know about running coming later. But to all non believers, Magic did come later, there was no Magic when the game FIRST came out (Runescape 1) until later with an update. [many of friends that played before this time ] All in all, this was a PI (pooop idea that came while on the toilet) and was gonna c if i could run with it. Thanx

If it started out as Run Escape, and it stayed all of the way up until now, Rune Scape would sound retarded.. Its the same thing as when varrock was remodeled to what it is now. Some people thought it was a bogus update, but now they are so used to it they probably don't remember how it looked before. Another example would be the old interface when it changed into what it is now.

 

This is a very interesting topic. I've also thought about this a few times, but as perc said if it was Run Escape, Runescape would sound retarded.
