In order to have people actually READ the rules..

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE REPLYING!

Before a new user registers, they should have to copy and paste something that says "I read the rules and will follow them" etc. into a specific part of the forums instead of just checking the box. If they don't read the rules within a certain amount of time, their account should get a temporary ban right then and there.

Why would a temporary ban that early in "the game" benefit our community might you ask? It eliminates the potential rules they'd break in the future and keeps it under strict radar instead of letting new users and fairly new users roam the forum for months and have to get an infraction or ban before they "know" what they're doing wrong.

In many threads not more than a month old, you'll see plenty of members banned, temporarily banned, trade with cautioned, etc. Some are banned because they never bothered to read or understand the rules. Others are banned because they come to sythe.org with full intent to disregard the rules.

If simply copying and pasting is not enough, why not quiz them with a few important questions about the rules that will ensure they read through them a little bit.

It should also be made harder and more annoying to make new accounts so people that get banned don't constantly make new accounts after they change their ip.

Our staff does a whole lot to help the community but certain things such as this can help a lot more and weed out particular users before the reach more valuable areas of the forum.

Thank you and please consider this particular suggestion thoroughly,
    ~Ethan

Please read my entire post next time. Questioning users and forcing them to actually read will HELP but not necessarily PREVENT people from not reading the rules thoroughly.

In order to have people actually READ the rules..

That EXACTLY what was on my mind
    Not simple not hard
    - multichoice (make it harder - 4minimum choices - 7 maximum choices)
    - check box/circle
    -1/2 questions per rule/section

then they will search only for that code...
    especially users creating another account.

However I suggest varying the questions for every new registration...
ie - there are 100 questions in total,
but only 10/20 are given at random.

    support.

Why shouldn't you be forced to read the rules you agree to? Would you ever not read a contract before agreeing to something important that highly effects your life? Why not at least pay attention to rules if you're going to join our community?

In order to have people actually READ the rules..

I support this, but in reality people should know the rules by now. Whatever forum you're on always have the same rules. They're basically the following:

    - Be respectful
    - Be mature
    - Don't spam
    - Don't scam
    - Nothing illegal

That's about it. >.< I support this though, although it will be annoying for users that know the rules already but have to register.

I don't support this. The best way for somone to read the rules, is simply giving them a temp ban for breaking one. or an infraction. thats how they got me to read the rules. lol

    i support,

i think should be a button that opens a window with the rules in it, then there could be a password or somthing randomly generated into the rules that you find then copy and paste,

this would somewhat try to get people to read the rules

agree but shouldnt be quiz. and the "code" shouldnt be at the end of the rules. thats kind of stupid. theres so many sites with TOS's where you just scroll to the end and find the "code" and dont make it something obvious like yes or yes i agree make it a "random sentence".

Also. make it mandatory to reread the rules every month ? cause people "forget" with time
