Why Does Vista Suck?

HP, Dell, Lenovo, IBM, Toshiba, Acer and all those other computer companies are all upgrading laptops to about 3+GB of RAM. Desktop now come with (mostly) 4GB+ of RAM. Think they read your post about Vista being so sluggish.

 

My Vista isn't userfriendly anymore.
It used to, where I had to click "Start as adminstrator" everytime I did anything.

 

Ummmmmm, thats if you buy a computer right now... Those who have owned a computer for a few years may only have a gig or less of ram. I have 2 gigs, and I run vista on the more high performance settings possible. I made a second account once, (Normal vista settings) and it took about 10 minutes to login each time. Took like 15 to log off. My computer (laptop) is just over a year old and is pretty good for the 1300 bucks I spent for it last year...

I also hate vista because half of the control menus tools do not work half the time, such as network center... Half the time it never loads... (SP1 helped a bit)... Its also really hard to change any setting on Vista... It takes me soooo long to find how to change a setting I have changed many times before...

Its so user-friendly that its one of the hardest OSs to use if you did not first use a computer with vista. Another problem, for some reason Vista is slowing eating my harddrive... Before I send the computer in for repairs I had 40 gigs of space missing from my Hard Drive... (I added everything in C: drive, including hiddens, and came up 40 gigs short... :/) When I got the computer it only had like 20 gigs of stuff on it... Might not be vista, but after one of my friends had his vista instead of removing stuff from the recycling bin, and instead have it copy to other parts of HD and remove space, not gain I think it is Vista's fault.

Networking is also much harder with vista... it pisses me off so much... it even goes as far as to changing my static ip for no reason randomly... That annoys the shit out of me cuz i have no idea why i can not host games... -.-

It also takes from 5 seconds to 30 minutes to shut down... No idea why... Lastly, half the time it updates its self it starts telling me that I have an illegal copy of windows and then it shuts down... system restore works, but COME ON. Updates are off, and i update now and then... but that pisses me off.... -.-

 

Vista sucks if your into hardcore computing but if your just a gamer you wont really notice anything but the slowing your performance due to the ram usage. id use xp if you dont have the greatest comp in the world.

 

You make no sense... How is networking so hard with Vista? I wouldn't game on a computer running Vista, but changing your static IP has nothing to do with why you can't host games on some online game. You added everything in your C: drive, so you came up 40 GB of space short? That makes no sense. If you have an illegal copy of Windows, tell your computer retailer. It may actually be illegal. If it takes 30 minutes to shutdown, and 10 minutes to log on, get more RAM, or get rid of some startup programs. Update regularly, and don't blame Vista for everything wrong with your computer just because everyone else says Vista sucks.

 

What SuF said is correct. Computers that are before the age of Vista are practically garbage now. It's either upgrade or get lost with vista, which is never a good thing when it comes to well, anything.

That's because they HAVE TO if they want to keep up with the market. Windows, as always, is dominating the market, and if they didn't have hardware that supported it, they are as good as gone.

 

In my opinion Vista Rocks, it works fast and has never screwed up for me. I don't know about others but I like it.

 

vista sucks because its full of security warnings that stop you from working and the file copying system is so slow and it runs way to many unnecessary background applications and alot of programs have known errors with it and crash frequently.

 

Control Panel > Search > UAC > Turn User Account Control Off

Problem solved.

Background Services? Control panel > Programs and Features > Turn windows features on or off

Second problem solved.

Can't fix copying, Vista is Vista, change it, change it.

 

Vista sucks, mostly on the errors and the massive memory "eating". For those of who say that Vista > Linux, you are a bunch of idiots. The best example of visa being a failure is: The opening of Vista windows. It crashed during the Vista official release.

 

Vista does suck, Sure It ran super fast like my windows xp but after you install a few big programs. reboot, it's slow as a turtle.

 

The first official release. That's not including the security and service updates. Or the Service Pack 1. Or the upcoming release of service pack 2. That was just barebone Vista, if you take away all the updates and speed and service and stuff that you NEED. Name an error that's not an application failing or a random shutdown.

 

I have come to the belief that vista takes up too much RAM

 

Firstly it's speed! The speed is literally terrible...

Secondly it's compatibility it cant play nearlly any xp games.

Thirdly its layout its basic coding is bad.

 

So many idiots posting here thinking only "hackers" or 'porn'ers' complain about Vista. Let me give you reasons on why it sucks:

1. Memory management is very poor. (Even MAC would do better)
2. Mostly every game or application requires double of what it requires for XP (eg. 512MB RAM requirement for a game would be 1GB for Vista)
3. On a Vista machine with 3GB RAM, you're actually only able to use about 2.5GB (addon to reason 1)
4. Searching for files in Windows Explorer is so clumsy that you'd be better off looking for it yourself manually.
5. The whole reason Vista was created was for a "new look" - but to actually get the most out of Vista (which isn't much compared to XP) you actually have to turn everything down to the most basic settings (eg. Windows Classic)
6. UAC.

There are lots more, but I can't be bothered writing them - I think you get my point.

 

Networking is hard with vista since to get to the damn menus you need, you have to go through a punch of other menus that do not work half the time. If i need to change my static ip, or set it after vista randomly changes it, it takes forever... Since vista randomly changes my static ip, i either have to change all my ports to the new ip, or reset my static the ladder takes less time. (Or it should).

Under propertys if you click on C: it says how much space is used... i added all the folders in c: including hiddens and it was 40 gigs less that what properites said it had...


I do not have an illegal copy of windows... vista just thinks i do when it updates for some reason.


Shutdown times... it does not matter how much ram i have since idle i use less than half, and i close all programs before i shut down so vista has like 1.5g to work with.


Why would i update? when i do it starts telling me i have an illegal copy of windows.


Nothing I have said is the fault of anything except vista, basicly.


@Scam... I have had 0 trouble running any game... (Cept dos games... dur...)

 

It's too user friendly. It also was an unfinished project. They had a time-line, rather than extending the time-line to get it finished - they just let it out early and decided to fix the problems after that (why you get so many darn updates). Also it is quite a bit harder to get into system files though I teach how to fix this problem in my guide (in my signature).

No thats why your confidence sucks, not why vista sucks.
